Second Senior Dance a Sensation
I went to the dance, there were colourful balloons. I stood by Mikayla for a photo. I wore a black shirt and shorts. I ate pizza , chips and ice cream and I danced with Mary, Mikayla and Kylie. I had fun at the dance.

On Friday 17th November, Parkside Seniors enjoyed their second end-of-year Dance. The Chamber Room of the Town Hall was beautifully decorated in gold, green and pink, the DJ (Wii) brought the best vibes, and the revelers put their best foot forward to celebrate another eventful year and step towards adulthood.

Some of our young people share their experiences of the night.
I got an invitation to the ball and felt very excited. I talked to Mum and Dad about the Ball and Mum and I went shopping in Manukau to get a dress.
On the day of the Ball, Kylie and I went to a salon in the afternoon and got our hair done. It was very relaxing.
At 6.40pm the doors opened for our ball to begin. Mum and I walked in and were greeted by Carol and Catherine. I had photos with my family and friends and then had a few dances with my friends and teachers. At 8.30pm we had supper of pizza and chips. I talked to lots of people I haven't seen for ages. Then the dancing continued, I took part in a Conga with Imogen. We finished with everyone taking part in Auld Lang Syne. I felt all the emotions because it was my last dance at Parkside.

Mikayla
I got ready to go to the ball and wore my suit. I loved dancing with my friends Harry, Mikayla, Hannah, Sam, Kylie and Naomi. We had pizza, chips and orange chocolate chip icecream. I had my photo taken. I loved the dance.

Following the success and enjoyment of the inaugural Parkside School Senior Dance in 2022 we were excited for the opportunity to hold the event again this year.
We were delighted that 29 of our Senior students were able to attend the evening and we thank parents and caregivers for enabling this. It was great that students took the opportunity to dress up for this occasion and everyone looked wonderful.
All students and staff danced the night away to a mix of both traditional folk dance and modern disco music. There was great enjoyment of the YMCA, the Conga, the Limbo, the Macarena and the Time Warp.
We look forward to seeing our Senior students at our 2024 dance.

What's been happening?
Pukekohe East are looking forward to a new junior playground opening next year. While they are waiting they have been enjoying sensory play on their deck.
The Ngakoroa 1 classroom had a chance to go to the sensory relaxed performance of Roald Dahl’s the Twits at the Dew drop event centre, which formed part of our theme this term around story telling. Our students had not had many opportunities to experience a theatre performance like this and thoroughly enjoyed it. They particularly liked the theatre, the songs and colourful characters, especially the animals. Some of our students also picked up on all the silly jokes that Mrs Twit played on Mr Twit. We are thankful to the gift a seat programme for their generous donation.
Theme: Telling Stories
Special Olympics

Our Parkside teams did incredibly well at the interschool Netball tournament and made all the staff at the event incredibly proud. Our teams won all but one game, and were given a special umpires award for sportsmanship.

All of the students played their best and represented the school brilliantly. Tyson Stoneham was chosen as MVP of the day by the organisers. A close second was Harry Markham and Aayden De Vries, for their sportsmanship and helpfulness.
WSC3 were very excited to receive their Poetry Anthology from the printers. They developed this in term 3 and they are all around the theme of Colour. We are very excited to have some published poets on the roll.
What's been happening?
WSC2 art therapy
Exploring paint with hands, feet and brushes.

Music therapy
Intermediate 1 & 2 had a great time at the bouncy castle brought in by Pukekohe Intermediate school.
View Road students enjoyed a visit from the Eagle helicopter, how exciting!
