There are four middle colonies such as, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New York.
Reason for founding
New York was first set up by the Dutch who came to the area to set up fur-trading posts.
Maryland was founded by Cecilius Calvert. Also known as Lord Baltimore. He created the Maryland colony to provide a safe place for Catholics like himself.

Pennsylvania was founded by English Quaker William Penn. The Quakers were a religious group whose beliefs set them at odds with the official Church of England. William wanted to start a colony where Quakers could live safely.

Comparing the Colonies.
In these pictures you see the three colony regions . As you can see the Middle Colonies are in the middle of the New England and Southern Colonies which means they are not too much of one thing.We have great weather in the summer and winter. While New England gets. cold and frosty and the southern colonies get very warm and attract mosquitoes. Did you know that the southern colonies also promotes slavery. Slavery is wrong it is something that we do not promote in the middle colonies.
