Assessment activities are part of the learning and teaching process. They have their own advantages and disadvantages, so teachers need to include a variety of assessment activities that complement the different areas we want to assess in the students. Teachers also need to assess in both ways subjective and objective since in occasions they tend to be more subjective. Besides, teachers have to prepare tests including exactly the things they have taught in class and give the students different tasks to see their strengths and weakenesses. Finally, it can be said that the size of the class, the learners' age, what we want to assess, and the frequency of exams and tests will determine the amount of informal assessment for the students.

How do we choose assessment activities?

When we assess either formally or informally we judge the student's learning in a certain way.

A formal assessment is planned and always summative while the informal assessment is unplanned and formative.
