Environmental Education in the Greek Educational System
Environmental Education (E.E)
completes the 3rd decade in the curricula of Primary and Secondary Education (Ministry of Education, 1990; 1991).
The inclusion of E.E was done within the “School Activities” as provided for, in the curriculum. These activities were implemented alongside the timetable. The participation of teachers and pupils was voluntary.

This year, E.E is imported for the first time in the timetable school programme through a new innovative addition to the curriculum"Skills Laboratories" (Thematic Circle: «I take care of the Environment») . Participation is obligatory.

3)understand their obligation to deliver
to the coming generations the planet & the natural environment in the situation they found it,

*Understand the different dimensions (environmental, cultural, social) of the school yard
* To connect emotionally with nature
* To get practice in field study and mapping of an area

* Comprehend the concept of climate change, the urgency of the issue , to raise their awareness and to take action at the collective and individual level through sustainable practices, thus improving their ethical environmental thinking.
