Once upon a time, and this time is now, a boy called Jack lives with his mother in a village. They are very poor. They only have a cow.

One morning, Jack goes to the market to sell the cow and he meets a man. The man wants the cow and he pays Jack with a bag full of beans.

When Jack´s mother sees the beans she is very angry and she throws them out of the window. It is raining all night. The next mornin Jack looks out of the window. There is a giant beanstalk.

He goes outside and climbs the beanstalk.

He climbs up to the sky through the clouds. Jack sees a beautiful castle. He goes inside. He sees an enormous giant in one room and a golden harp and a hen on a table.
“Lay!” says the giant. The hen lays a golden egg.
“Sing!” says the giant. The harp begins to sing.
Jack is very surprised.
The giant falls asleep and Jack takes the harp and the hen. Suddenly, the harp sings,”Help, master!”
The giant wakes up and runs to Jack. The boy runs too and climbs down the beanstalk.
