Summary of the book written by Rosa Maria Stanca
School year 2019/2020
Oliver Twist was born in a workhouse and his mother died right after.
He lived there with other orphans for nine years.
The boys were very very hungry and always wanted more food.
Then Oliver helped the church's undertaker during the funerals, but one day he threw the owner to the ground because he offended his mother. So he ran away from that house.
Then he arrived in London in a dark house where a bad man, Fagin, learnt him to stole pocketbooks as a game, but when he repeated that game on the street he understood it wasn't a game.
Oliver was taken to the magistrate, but Mr. Brownlow said the boy wasn't the thief and Oliver went to the Mr Brownlow's house and there he was ill for many days.
One day Oliver had to bring some books to the bookseller and pay him to demonstrate he was a good boy.
Fagin ordered Nancy, a young woman who worked with him, to find Oliver.
She found him next to the bookseller and told to the people he was her brother.
Oliver tried to escape, but Fagin caught him.
When he came back to the Fagin's house he had to keep stealing.
He was very frightened when he heard the shot of a gun.
Oliver escaped and Fagin was very angry for it.
Oliver tried to walk, but he felt very weak, so he knocked on the door of a large house where people were afraid of robbers.
One man carried the boy upstairs and the other man went to get a policeman and a doctor, but Rose, a young girl, asked to her aunt, Mrs. Maylie, don't take this child to a prison.
