Columbia River Maritime Museum Crossing the Bar Section

Crossing he Bar is one of the most dangerous thing to do. There has been over 2000 shipwrecks at the mouth of the Columbia River. It’s almost impossible to Cross the Bar. I will not risk my life crossing the Bar. So the answer is no, unless I have to do something important like rescuing people.

The First Nations have lived down the Columbia River for thousands of years until Europeans came. In 1778,  Captain James Cook introduced the maritime fur trade to England. At the mouth of the Columbia River, the Chinooks placed a high value Otter fur trades. By 1810 sea otter population were declining due to the success of trading. Other periods of time, the First Nations used red cedar to make canoes and catch salmon for food.

We were successful in practice and failed in the challenge.

Our group did really well making the R.O.V. We did well in practice too. When the real challenge begin, one of the tube broke which caused the motor to also break. We fixed it but it broke down again. We had no way of making it work again so we kinda failed. On our last try, we did better than we expected(kinda cheated). The results wasn’t as good as practice. Next time, we will secure the tubes and the motor better. Our magnet worked really well though. If we stable everything, I think we will do good.

These activities are important to small towns because small towns need entertainment. Big towns should also have activities like this. I think most importantly, small towns need tourist attractions to make their town bigger and more populated.

Depoe Bay is known as the world’s smallest navigatable harbor. On March 11, 2011, the port was damaged by a tsunami caused by an earthquake off the coast of Japan.

Isaac Ingalls Stevens was born in 1818 in Andover, MA. He served in the US Armed Forces from 1839 to 1853. From 1853 to 1857, he was the first territorial Governor in Washington Territory. He returned to army service in 1861 and was the Colonel of 79th New York Highlanders. In 1862, the Battle of Chantilly, he was struck by a bullet in the template and fell dead clutching the colours. He was promoted to To Major General from July 4, 1862. Fort Stevens was named after Isaac Ingalls Stevens.

The tsunami machine is in the visitors centre because it’s used to tell people how much damage a tsunami can do and how to survive. Since the science centre is near Oregon Coast, tsunami can happen any time without you knowing. It can also be a toy for kids.

The Glass pushed the water to make waves and generates a tsunami toward land.

I’m looks forward to this attraction because this is the second time I’m going to be on a zip line.

I’m excited to see a nudibranch because it’s mentioned in The Highest Tide and it looks cool. There are over 2000 species of them and I want to see one. I also want to see this creature because I have not seen one before.

The Tillamook Dairy Farm established in the Tillamook Valley starting in the mid-1850’s. The reason why the cheese factory is here is because settlers realized that the Oregon Coast’s cool, wet climate made for abundant and nutritious grass, which was perfect for raising dairy cows. The Tillamook brand offers hundreds of cheese, ice cream, yogurt, sour cream and butter products. All of the above starts with the highest quality milk.

For our crab experiment, we chose gender as our variable. We only used the green crabs because we want to use one specie. Our hypothesis was that the male crab will run faster that female crabs because since female crabs has to carry babies male crabs will have less Jon’s than female. We used a timer to test the crab one by one on the track. We tried this experiment 4 times and it turns out that the female crabs actually run faster. 

The Audubon Society is a place for animals that are injured or imprinted. Audubon is a safe place for all the animals to live. There could be turtles, coyotes, birds, and a bunch of other animals. This is very important because animals have lives too. If you see animals injured and there is no place for them to heal, they are most likely to die. Each time an animal comes in, there is a chance for them to be released back into the wild. When one animal gets released, it inspires the workers to keep working. The workers know if one animal gets released, other can too.

The Astoria Column is 125 feet tall and is covered on the outside by a Mural that depicts the earliest moments of Northwest History.

The Yaquina Head is unique because of the rocks. If everyone took a rock, it wouldn’t make Yaquina Head unique. Over the years, the rocks will slowly disappear because people took them. So, don’t take the rocks.

This world needs scientists because we need to discover new things. Scientists can do experiments to make medicine that can help people. They can discover new creatures and find out about their species. Scientists can help people and animals. If this world don’t have scientists, there might not be new species discovered every day and there might not be any medicine for humans. Scientists help.

Cannon Beach is most well known for Haystack Rock. It is sometimes called the 3 largest intertidal rock in the world.
