If I do method 2, where I put the ice in a bowl of hot water, then maybe the ice will melt faster.

How can I melt an ice cube in a ziplock snack bag on my table the fastest?

Leaving the ice cube on the table without changing or doing anything.

Leaving the ice cube in a bowl of hot water.

The constant variable in this experiment are the ice cubes and the ziplock packs. The ice cubes were both put at the same times. The ziplock packs also was closed during the experiment.

I conclude that putting your ice in hot water melts it faster. Why? Because When heat is added, the ice melts back into water.

The independent variable in this experiment is the bowl of hot water. The reasoning for this is because what made the ice melt when we did the method 2 is the bowl of hot water.

The dependent variable in this experiment is the ice cube. The ice cube is the dependent variable because it is the one being observed and is the only one that has changed.

In doing method 1, where the ice was untouched, took 36 minutes to melt. 

Right after I put the ziplock pack in the warm water

In doing method 2, where the ice was in the bowl of hot water, took only 3 minutes to melt.  When I also put my finger in the water, it felt a bit colder than before I put the ziplock bag.

MATERIALS NEEDED

Put one ziplock pack in a bowl of hot water to complete method 2

› 2 ice cubes › 2 ziplock packs › 1 bowl of hot water › a stopwatch (phone)

Put one ziplock pack aside to complete method 1.

Get your stopwatch, take notes, and compare which method melts the ice faster.
