Introduction

Imagine you are looking through a telescope and you are about to see something that no one has ever seen in person before. You are looking at a star formation. In this book you will learn about stars.

Star Formation
Let’s start at the beginning, when stars are about to be created. Star creation takes place in clumps of very cold gas and dust. When the star gets very, very big, it starts to collapse under its own gravity. Then it compresses the gas and dust so tightly that it has gravity of its own. This process creates something called a protostar. Based on the size of the clumps it can make a couple or a couple thousand. Most stars last for 50 million to 20 billion years.

Star Colors
If you haven't noticed already, stars are different colors than just white. They have different colors to show if they are hot, very hot or extremely hot. Blue is the hottest color. Then white, yellow, orange. Red is the coolest color.
