Did you know?

Librarians do a lot more than check out books! Here are some of the things we do in our schools:
-Teach digital and information literacy skills using national and state standards
-Select books for diverse students using board policies and procedures
-Help students find just-right books through read-aloud, book talks, displays, and individual readers advisory
-Evaluate, share, model, and manage digital and physical resources to support students and teachers
-Communicate and collaborate with stakeholders to promote a positive learning environment for all

OES's Favorite Project: CSI Unit--it uses handheld digital microscopes to look at clothing patterns, foreign threads, and fingerprints to solve a “crime” that “occurred” at the National Park we were reading about at the time, Longleaf. It incoporated non-fiction sections that were related to detective work and mysteries as well.
