General description

Magnolia L. is a genus of flowering plants, of the order Magnoliales, which groups mainly tree species known by the common name of magnolias. In its present taxonomic circumscription, the genus has been extended to include the species that were dispersed by the genera Magnolia, Manglietia, Michelia, Talauma, Aromadendron, Kmeria, Pachylarnax and Alcimandra (all of the former Magnolioideae subfamily), resulting in a monophyletic genus with about 297 species. The genus is distributed in the subtropical and tropical regions of East and Southeast Asia (including Malesia) and the Americas, with centers of diversity in Southeast Asia and northern South America. The genus includes several species widely used as an ornamental tree in the subtropical and temperate regions of both hemispheres.&nbsp;

This project had a positive impact on most of the students involved. Not only for the knowledge they gained in the natural sciences but also for the digital skills they developed. It should be noted that the AEPAC students envolved in this project had their first contact with eTwinning, which was also an added value; they were eager to participate in new collaborative work projects next school year! Overall, we think the project was overall very positive for students and teachers. The project was developed with enthusiasm, with some difficulties that were overcome. We met new people and shared ideas and new ways of learning.&nbsp;

An indigenous Mediterranean-Atlantic plant, distributed throughout the Iberian Peninsula, western and southern Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Macaronesia. In Portugal, it is found almost everywhere in the country, with the largest patches found in the south, in the Caldeirão and Monchique mountains.

The medronho is used to make liqueurs and medronho brandy.This fruit can also be consumed naturally.

Climate change is a challenge to humanity in the near future. Even in small geographical areas (our country) it is possible to watch its effects: in the north there are floods and in the south people can go to the beach! Thus, it is intended know if climate changes has an impact on the arrival of spring in different geographic areas. On the other hand, as young people spend less and less time outdoors, it is intended that they follow, photographically, the development of the trees and understand if spring arrives at the same time in all places.

Cherry is originally from Japan in Asia. It is common throughout Europe with the exception of the Mediterranean region, where it may appear only in the spontaneous state. In Portugal it is distributed in the North and in the mountains of the continental center. Originária do Japão. She is from the family Theaceae, of the order Ericales of the class Magnoliopsida-dicotiledóneas. This plant likes to be in partial shade and prefers slightly acidic, moist soils and rich in organic matter. This plant has a high resistance to most pests and its average temperature to grow is 15-25 ºC.
