Turtles are unique animals. Learning about them is just as unique. Some of these turtles are shy. They are relatives of crocodiles, snakes, and lizards. All turtles must breathe air. Turtles dig burrows to keep cool. Ok now that you know what this book is about let's see what a turtle looks like.

Did you know that the largest turtles are 8 feet? Turtles have shells. That's what most people know them for. Most turtles are green. Some turtles have colorful markings. The largest turtles are eight feet long. Now that you've seen what a turtle looks like let's go see what's on the menu.


Snapping turtles eat, insects, crayfish, crabs, snails, fish, frogs, toads, snakes, birds, eggs, and small mammals. Most turtles are omnivores which means they will eat anything. They do have favorite foods though. Now that we have had lunch let's go home.
Turtles live in the United States of America and places that are warm for months. Other places where they live are Mexico and Southern Canada. A predator is coming we need to protect ourselves.
