I Had an Interesting Experience
Present Perfect Tense and Simple Past Tense can be confusing for English Learners. As soon as a time expression in the past given, you have to use simple past. If there are no signal words, you must decide if we just talk about an action in the pas or if its consequence in he present is important.

In this chapter we will discuss about present perfect tense and simple past tense. To understand them, pay attention to the following explanation!

Simple Past Tense

Is used to talk about a completed action in a time before now. The time of the action can be in the recent past or distant past and action duration is not important.

2. It has not rained yesterday
3. He has lived in Fiji since 1976
4. Have you seen any good movies recently?
5. She has not traveled to Venus
6. We have not sent any mail since we were retired
7. They have gone to the shopping center
8. Have your uncle and aunt lived in the same house for twenty five years?
9. My baby cried since all night
10. Mike has eaten breakfast with his father
Present Perfect
Ø Unfinished actions that started in the past and continue to the present:
> I've known Julie for ten years (and I still know her).
Ø A finished action in someone’s life (when the person is still alive: life experience)
> My brother has been to Mexico three time
Ø A finished action with a result in the present:
> I’ve lost my keys! (The result is that I can’t get into my house now).
Ø With an unfinished time word (this week, this month, today):
> I’ve seen John this week.
