We will go to the mess deck (third deck) to eat our lunch. If the weather is nice, we may also eat outside on the pier.

District 75 Students Visit The U.S.S. Intrepid

We will go outside onto the pier. We will use the stairs or elevator to go up to the hangar deck.

There is a movie that re-creates a kamikaze attack on the ship. It is very loud and has flashing lights. I can cover my ears if I walk past it.

Location: near the World War II Avenger airplane on the hangar deck&nbsp;

We will go inside of the Welcome Center. A security guard will ask us to walk through a metal detector.&nbsp;

The Museum is on <a href="https://www.intrepidmuseum.org/getdoc/49168dee-605b-4ca9-a9ab-a3b1b923e3a9/INT029_Map-pdf.aspx">West 46th Street and 12th Avenue in Manhattan</a>. When we arrive, we will see busy roads with cars and bikes. We can use a bridge to cross the street.

We will walk across a gangway that looks like a metal bridge. It connects the stairs and elevator to the ship.

We are going to the <a href="https://www.intrepidmuseum.org/">Intrepid Sea, Air &amp; Space Museum</a> for the STEM Fair.

If there are some things we did not see, we can come back another time or we can look online.

If we have time, we can explore the Museum as a group.

When we are in the Museum, there are some things we can touch and some things we cannot. Signs and stanchions protect the aircraft.

Intrepid is a huge ship called an <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aircraft_carrier">AIRCRAFT CARRIER</a>. The ship has airplanes inside and on top.

People who work at the Museum can also help us. Security guards wear white shirts with a badge. We can also ask people who wear yellow, red and blue Intrepid Museum shirts.

Go with an adult to the Quiet Room in the Education Center.&nbsp;

Go to the restrooms located on the hangar deck near the Exploreum and the entrance, downstairs by the cafeteria or outside by the Welcome center.

The Intrepid Museum is based on an aircraft carrier that floats on the Hudson River.&nbsp;
