Each concerto was accompanied by information about the scenery and the events described by the music. Four Seasons belong to the programmatic music where the composer tries, through the timbres of the instruments of the orchestra, to tell us a story, or to "paint" musically a picture, or to give us a poem, an idea, etc. Each concerto consists of three parts.

The pizzicato technique is often used on the double bass, so the produced sound is full and rich. This is one of the main reasons why the double bass often appears as a rhythm instrument in various dance groups or in jazz music.

It is characterized by intense and impressive rhythms. The main features of the Baroque era are glamour and splendor, rich decoration and attention to the details. In other words, all those elements that can capture the admiration of the viewer and the listener.

Its sound, sweet and loud, is due to its large speaker. Usually it was used with the Double Bass to play the low notes of a music piece, but also as a solo instrument.

Musicians inserted "ornaments" on the melodies. Musical themes are clear and the same melody is repeated in a different way (presto and slow tempo, forte and piano volume).

Over time, his popularity in Venice began to decline so the composer, disappointed by his compatriots, immigrated to Vienna in 1741. A month later, he passed away emaciated, having squandered his entire fortune. After his death, his music sank into oblivion. It took two centuries for the world to discover his music again.

In 1703, when he was 25 years old, he became a priest because during those hard times a musician could not earn his living. Although in 1705 he resigned for health reasons, he acquired the nickname "the red priest" because of his bright red hair.

It stands on the musician's shoulder. He presses the strings with his one hand, while with the other hand he moves the bow over the strings. The sound is also produced by "pinching" the strings (pizzicato). The very first appearance of violin is in the 16th century. It took its present shape in Italy, where famous families of manufacturers such as Amati, Guarneri and Stradivarius, created amazing violins.

With his music he influenced a lot of composers of his age such as Johann Sebastian Bach, and subsequent ones. His father, Giovanni Battista Vivaldi was a barber. He also was a musician of St. Mark's Orchestra, so he taught him to play the violin.

The artistic style which was formed in the 17th century. It sprung from Rome, and soon it spread across Europe.

Antonio Vivaldi was born in Venice in 1678. He lived during the Baroque era (1600 - 1750).

Vivaldi went down as a composer of concertos. He composed more than 500 concertos for violin, flute, mandolin, and many other musical instruments. He also composed more than 50 operas, but nowadays we know only 20 of them. In addition, he composed several works of religious music, based on hymn texts or parts of the Mass.

Vivaldi himself characterized these works as: "Competition between Harmony and Invention".

Vivaldi tried to describe each season of the year with his music. Four concertos for solo violin, string orchestra and "basso continuo", i.e. an organ or a cembalo which played a continuous musical line to coordinate the musicians as there were no orchestra conductors.

The biggest member of the violin family, which has the deepest sound. In the past, it had three strings. Today it has four (sometimes five) strings. Its height is about 185 cm.

Part1: Allegro Violins imitate the singing of the birds. Then, playing slowly, they imitate the gurgling of the waters. A sudden thunderstorm strikes (as all strings are playing forte) but afterwards the birds come back singing.

In 1703 he was appointed as a violin professor and chief musician at the girls' orphanage "Ospedale della Pietà" in Venice. There, he taught violin for almost thirty years, composing religious music.
