The Artist Georgia O'Keeffe
Hello my name is Makaila Willis and you will learn about Georgia Totto O'Keeffe she was an American artist and was known for her paintings of flowers, skyscrapers, and New Mexico landscapes. Georgia won three medals and was called the Mother of American modernism. Georgia is one of the female painters to gain respect in New York's art world in the 1920s. You can see many of her pieces in museums all over the United States.

In 1977,Geogia was given the Presidential Medal of freedom the highest honor to anyone. Again in 1985,Nation Medals of the arts by President Reagan. For the last time in 1993,she was in the National Woman's Hall of Fame.
Georgia was born on November 15 in 1887 and grew up with six siblings in Sun Prairie,Wisconsin on a farm. Georgia was given art lessons from home at a young age throughout her school year all of her teachers saw her love for the arts. Georgia attended the Scared Heart Academy to learn more about the arts.

In 1908, Georgia was not able to finish her studies her mother was ill and her father had no money and had no more wanted a career as a painter. Later Georgia got a job teaching art to young kids at schools and then attend a summer art class that helped her see her love the for art again.
