EAL Project

The EAL Project is designed to give support and guidance to those staff involved in the admission and induction of students with English as an Additional Language.

It contains key information and strategies for teachers with the aim of giving a consistent approach to the admission and induction procedures.

This course costs £500 based on minimum of 12 schools to cover training costs.

Talk and Tours - SEND

Alpha Teaching School Hub are proud to partner with Lexden Springs to offer advice in planning, differentiating and personalising of the curriculum for particular SEND students within your school. You are invited to attend a tour of the school, viewing resources and classroom practice.

The course costs £50 per person.

Areas may include developing personalised targets, maximising the use of TAs, using and modelling of particular specialised resources - such as social stories, visual timetables, objects of reference and colourful semantics, advice on EHCPs, person-centered planning and reflecting on what works well.

SEND Solutions

This is a half termly programme for all class teachers in schools with specific focus on needs and wanting support. The sessions run for 45 mins from 16.00 -16.45 and concentrates on successful strategies to share within your setting. The sessions will be held at Lexden Springs school.

This programme costs £50 per person or £200 per school for access to all sessions.

You will have opportunities to explore the potential issues in your class setting and strategies to consider. There will be options of break out rooms to share good practice and be solution focused. We ask that for this training you have in mind 1 or 2 students and a scenario where a strategy did or did not go according to plan to share in the discussion.

SENDCO Training

Upon surveying our SENCOs in the Alpha Teaching School Hub area we will be offering bespoke training to meet the requirements you have asked for.
These training sessions will be held at Lexden Springs school.

Sessions can be individually booked as per each school's SEND requirements at a cost of £150.

Speech and Language

This course is aimed for teachers of ALL primary aged children, focusing on the increasing number of children at risk of a speech, language and communication delay. It will equip SENCOs, class teachers and LSAs with the knowledge and tools to support children’s speech, language and communication effectively, impacting on all areas of learning as children progress through the school. This course covers all aspects of the communication chain in great depth, providing a sustainable approach to closing the language gap.

This course includes 10 twilight sessions you are required to attend all days. The Spring/Summer Dates for this programme are:

For those taking on the accreditation process, this provides opportunity to embed strategies into school practice and also benefits those looking to take on the role of communication lead in school. Alpha Teaching Hub offer post course support and advice to schools wishing to embed training and develop a whole school approach.

Advantaging the Disadvantaged

This training is for classroom teachers to explore inclusive classroom culture and strategies that focus on quality first teaching to ensure students are advantaged.

This programme will be launched in the summer term, further details coming soon. This will be set at a cost-based price. Click HERE to register your interest.

The training will cover how curriculum and lesson planning sequencing can support inclusive teaching strategies for Pupil Premium and Free School Meal Students who are of a range of abilities and backgrounds. The training course recognises that disadvantaged can take different forms including travel time and English as Additional Language (EAL). Integration into school communities and immersive learning is key to ensuring students are ‘advantaged’.
