Developing Proficiency with Vocabulary Using Flashcard Factory

Flashcard Factory was designed to transform the way students engage with vocabulary. When you play Flashcard Factory students pair up and work together to create dynamic and engaging flashcards. Google Apps for Education.

Step 1: Log into Flashcard Factory

Head to the Flashcard Factory website and use your @jeffcoschools.us Google account to log in. You will see Pear Deck Vocabulary in a green box on the right-hand side of your screen. Click 'Create Vocab List' to get started!

Step 2: Match Vocab to be Learned to Skill Proficiency

You will want to come up with the vocabulary words you put in to Pear Deck ahead of time. A great place to find vocabulary words that support a unit of study is in the Stage 2 section of Jeffco Proficiency Scales, which can be found in the assessment area of Bridge to Curriculum. Take a look at the 3rd-5th grade Jeffco proficiency scale for Digital Citizen. Many words that indicate proficiency have already been suggested, but you are always welcome to add more based on lessons taught and literature read.

Step 3: Build your Vocab List in Pear Deck

Create your vocab list. You can write your own definitions or use the dictionary built into Flashcard Factory to find a definition. Click the 'Play Flashcard Factory' button when you are ready to start!

One thing to know is that you cannot build your vocab list ahead of time and save it in Pear Deck. You can, however, export it to save it and then import it back into Pear Deck when you are ready to play. Simply follow the directions to build your list, but click Export at the top of the screen instead.
