Times Square was once named Longacre Square.
It took on its current name in 1905, when the worlds most popular Newspaper called "New York Times" moved its headquarters to the area.

Times Square was built in January 1905
Later on after World War I the Times Square grew dramatically and became a culture hub full of theatres, music halls and upscale hotels.
The Times Square was named after the newspaper, New York Times
- One of the world's busiest pedestrian areas, it is also the hub of the Broadway Theater District and a major center of the world's entertainment industry. Times Square is one of the world's most visited tourist attractions, drawing an estimated 50 million visitors annually.
