Bringing the Rain to Kapiti Plain

One year, it stopped raining. The grass turned brown, and the animals had to leave so that they could find food and water somewhere else.

Animal migration

A big grey cloud was above the Kapiti Plain, but it still did not rain.

The feather gave Ki-pat an idea. He decided to use the feather to make a bow and arrow.

This is Ki-pat who watches his herd while standing on one leg like a big stork bird.

Ki-pat pointed his bow and arrow to the big grey cloud and BOOM!

It began to storm. Thunder, lightning and rain all came down on the Kapiti Plain!

The cows on the Kapiti Plain were hungry. They asked the sky to rain by saying "moo! moo! moo!"

An eagle flew over Ki-pat and his herd of cows. It dropped a feather.

Hooray! The grass began to turn green again. The cows were happy because they had food again. All the animals began to return to the Kapiti Plain.
