Bringing the Rain to Kapiti Plain

Retold by Wairoa School
This is the Kapiti Plain, all fresh and green
from the African rains.
One year, it stopped raining.

The grass turned brown, and the animals had to leave so that they could find food and water somewhere else.

The cows on the Kapiti Plain were hungry.
They asked the sky to rain by saying "moo! moo! moo!"
Touch the cow to hear it moo.
This is Ki-pat who watches his herd while standing on one leg like a big stork bird.
A herd is a big group of cows.
An eagle flew over Ki-pat and his herd of cows. It dropped a feather.
The feather gave Ki-pat an idea.
He decided to use the feather to make a bow and arrow.
Can you make a paper arrow?
