WHAT IS IT?
Letters From The Earth is an initiative that connects students from different countries around Europe to promote sustainability. The Earth sends letters to all the participants monthly to make sure her voice is being heard and to inspire them to collaborate in a common programme to take action to protect our planet.
Students search, analyze, discuss, cooperate and share perspective about environmental issues by working on different projects from October to the end of May.
The main goal is that all the participants feel as an European team which appreciates nature and they share the desire to protect it by collaborating alltogether on the twinspace.
They also learn about European geography, natural parks, environmental issues they are most worried about, ... Besides they meet in the twinspace and in different virtual meetings and they cooperate to find smart solutions to environmental problems.
Besides, these projects promote critical thinking, core values, creativity and artistic development, team work, the use of technology and the use of English as a means of communication.
We feel fortunate to be collaborating with Ukraine, Spain, Turkey, France, Italy and Romania alltogether.
Finally, we are grateful to the etwinning platform for facilitating a safe educational environment and to make possible this project.

THE PROJECT'S STAGES:
The Earth starts sending letters to the participants to make sure her voice is being heard and to inspire them to collaborate in a common project to take action to protect our planet.
As a result , students from different schools located in Turkey, Romania, Spain, Italy, France and Ukraine present themselves and meet together in a common wall and they start working in mixed groups. During the process, they carry out a lot of collaborative environmental tasks such us: creating a common logo; developing natural European virtual park guides and designing an environmental calendar. Everybody sends eco friendly cards at Christmas. Besides, students and teachers dedicate supportive messages and pictures to their Turkish partners due to the tragic earthquake located in Turkey and Siria. They also virtually meet to talk about nature and environment at different moments during the year . Our students can affirm that water is the issue they are most worried about after having worked on ecology by using the mentimeter tool. Therefore,on Water's World Day, they calculate their water footprint and they share their best tips to reduce water consumption. All the participants celebrate The Earth Day in their schools too and share their celebrations in a common poster. They also create a nice banner to thank The Earth. In national groups, they invent interactive games to share in the twinspace and with their communities. And finally, they participate in a collaborative map to share what they do to be eco friendly.
Here you can have a look at the resulting products.
