If you write instructions we can call these commands. What would be an example of a command in real life?

It is all about learning through &apos;play.&apos;

The best part of learning to code is that we solve puzzles better, together.

Every lesson we talk about &apos;composition.&apos; This is where we work together to solve a problem. &apos;Decomposition&apos; is the process by which we break down a problem into smaller parts. Take this example of nesting patterns of code inside each other.

Our students are investigating the idea of a Boolean. This is a statement that can only either be True or False. When applied to code we can use our loop function with &apos;if&apos; or &apos;else&apos; statements. Watch the video to see how Boolean&apos;s are applied through coding in Swift.

What if you could learn a language of the future through a game?

Swift Playgrounds is a free coding program made for iOS. At Amadeus we will be teaching students how to code functions, loops, commands and algorithms in the Swift language. But it won&apos;t all be on iPads. Students must apply these concepts to everyday life with games and group activities.

Let the students explain what a Loop could be described as in the Swift Code language. This student gets it!

This week we learned about Commands, Functions, Bugs and some students progressed to looping functions. Please ask them at home for examples of functions and looped functions. Then see if they can describe the code needed to solve the problem on the next page. We will also document each week with the app BookCreator!

As Swift Playgrounds is exclusively available on Apple IOS, Amadeus has the unique opportunity of sharing it with all our students. But did you know there is a teacher certification called #AppleTeacher that Mr Wright has completed? We ran the students through the same process and they earned their very own Swift Playgrounds Badge!

We can even loop coded events with &apos;if&apos; statements. We call these Conditional Code. Watch the video to see a student&apos;s work in action.

Solving puzzles is fun when you can test your ideas.

Students have progressed through various levels in only a few weeks! They have learnt how to define a function and solve repeating puzzles with only a few lines of code.
