Geography
The Middle Colonies, first, had great soil. Not like the New England Colonies. The New England Colonies have rocky soil, terrible for farming. Second, the ports are great for trade. Third, they had great valleys for farming and trade. Lastly, They have cold winters and warm summers. Perfect weather conditions! These conditions provide long growing seasons. In the Southern Colonies, they have burning hot summers and mild winters. Not as good, right?
Economy
The Middle Colonies have many ways to make money. They had jobs growing crops like wheat, corn, vegetables, and tobacco, while others became miners, lumbermen, sailors, or they would grow livestock. Why would you want to go to the Southern Colonies and not have all of these jobs, when you can just come to the Middle Colonies?
