The Boy and
the Magic Carpet
Once upon a time, there was a boy. He lived in a calm, small village, somewhere off the coast of Spain. He was quite an average student at school, although in the afternoons he loved to read books and imagine them happening in real life.
On a casual, sunny Tuesday, he was
walking back from school to home, reading a book, as usual. The wind was very
strong that day. While walking, he wasn't looking in front of him, because he
was occupied with his book.
Suddenly, it started to rain. The boy
was surprised, because he hadn’t seen any dark clouds in the sky. Looking for
shelter, the boy left the path that he was walking on and turned into the old
woods that were nearby.
He found an old oak tree with a hollow
in it, where he sat and continued reading his book.
Suddenly, something touched him on the shoulder - he looked to his right and was astonished. He didn't realize that he was sitting on an old carpet that was hidden in the old oak tree. To his astonishment, the carpet was moving. It had a tiny, gold sparking aura around it! The boy was very confused at first, but then he remembered stories about flying carpets from his books. He started wondering...was it possible that he found a magic carpet?
The Boy and
the Magic Carpet
He decided to take the carpet out of the hollow and unfold it. When he laid it down on the ground and stood on it, it suddenly started levitating! Suddenly, he was sitting on the carpet, that was hovering a meter off the ground. He was in shock!
Then, the carpet started moving forward.
He quickly stashed all his things in the hollow and hopped on the carpet. He
was flying between the trees, gaining speed with every second. He needed to lie
down in order not to fall. Then, the carpet started gaining altitude - he was
soaring above the tree tops. He saw his little village, his school, his house.
People looked like ants from this height. He noticed that it wasn't raining
anymore - they were above the clouds!
They flew for about an hour. The boy
never had so much fun. Eventually, they went back to the old forest and the tree with the hollow.
He hopped off the carpet and thanked it
for the great ride. It did this sort of wavey gesture, probably as to indicate
that it also had a great time. The boy gently rolled up the carpet and put it
back in the hollow. He grabbed his stuff and started walking back home. When he
looked back, he couldn’t see the old oak anymore.
He didn't tell anyone about the
incident. He tried looking for the old oak tree, but he couldn't find it, it
just disappeared. He continued living his average life with the great memory of a flight on a magic carpet.
