The Great Fire of London<br/>D&amp;T Project<br/>Year 2 (November 2021)

We used this knowledge to design our own houses.

This included adding details such as shop signs, chimneys, timber frames and doorways.

We have been studying the processes and materials used to build houses in 1666 London.

We applied our science knowledge of materials and their properties.

We examined why the fire was able to spread so quickly because of the flammable materials used in buildings.

Using PVA glue, we created the basic structures for the 1666 houses. By wrapping the cardboard boxes in PVA-soaked paper, they become rigid and ready to paint.

We applied our scissor and glue skills to transform our blank boxes into London buildings.

We made decisions on the materials we would need to build our models.

We were able to record footage from the drones, almost as if we were travelling along the streets of 1666 London ourselves.

We used drone robots to navigate our model city, controlling them using ipads and webcams.
