Мongolian Traditional New Year Celebration
Grade 8 students create paintings on canvas to illustrate the beauty of the Mongolian Lunar New Year celebration, Tsagaan Sar.
The original paintings were framed and displayed at ISU during the Tsagaan Sar period and were also used as a backdrop on the theatre LED screen. They made a very powerful backdrop to the Tsagaan Sar performances.

Tsagaan Sar (White Moon) is the biggest traditional Mongolian new year holiday.
Энэ баярыг ЦАГААН ИДЭЭНИЙ БАЯР гэж намрын улиралд тэмдэглэдэг байжээ.
The White Moon festival was celebrated in Autumn first as a milk product celebration.
1206 онд Чингис хаан Их Монгол улсыг байгуулаад Цагаан сарыг хаврын эхэн сарын шинийн нэгэнд тэмдэглэх зарлиг гаргажээ.
In 1206, Chingis Khaan created The Great Mongolian Empire. Tsagaan Sar predates Chingis Khaan and is on the first day of the first month in Spring.
Цагаан сарын шинийн нэгний өмнөх өдрийг Битүүн гэнэ. Энэ өдөр айлууд гэр орноо цэвэрлэн Битүүний ёслолдоо бэлдэцгээдэг.
The day before Tsagaan Sar is named "bituun". It means no moon day. On this day families clean their house and prepare for Bituun celebration.
