Artists at school
This year we have a few artist visits lined up again. We are proud to welcome two new artists: Winnie Davis and Stern Rockwell. In this portrait we introduce Winnie to you.
1. Why did you decide to be come an artist?
As far I remember I wanted to be an artist, to be specific, since I was about four years old.

2. When did you start working as an artist?
I started working as an artist in 2002 when I established Club 4 Art. This is an art institution for teaching art.

3. What artist inspired you?
The impressionist artist Pierre-August Renoir inspires me most for my portrait painting. The english sculptor Henry Moore inspires me most for my sculpture making.

4. Who is your favourite artist?
I have two favourite artists: Pierre-August Renoir and Henry Moore.

5. What is your favorite part of working as an artist?
I like the creative processes involved in producing an artwork the most. The actual making of the artwork. It is very rewarding to see your idea come to life. Your efforts are visible and tangible and this creation process is what I enjoy the most.

6. What materials do you like to use the most for your works?
For my own artworks I like using oil paints for the creation of paintings and clay for sculpting. I like both kinds of artistic expression and enjoy teaching both to children.

7. What is your advice for us?
Never give up. Keep practicing and producing artworks. Only practice makes perfect. Only through practice you learn to master the use of the different materials to express your creativity.

8. Do you have a second job?
I have a second job. I am teaching art to children and adults. You may have worked with me in one of the school's afternoon activity programs. I also teach a degree course called BA in Graphic Design which is organised by the British Sunderland University.

9. Anything else you would like to share?
If you like art, please keep on doing it! Don't give up. Being an artist is difficult because you may not easily earn enough money to make a living. Thus, many parents may not like the idea of their children studying fine arts in university. Also, there are not many jobs that you can do when you studies fine arts. You can work as art teachers, as an art curator in a museum and in media companies that find your art and skill suitable for their publications. It is hard work. Nonetheless, if expressing your creativity is important to you, you should always make time for your art in your spare time.

Winnie introduced hereself and her work before explaining the day's project: a birthday cake
The final designs were carefully painted. The results are truly unique and beautiful cakes. Each is a piece of art and love. The receivers will be pleased.

First they got to kneed and roll and shape with their hands fingers and modelled using tools.

Schulmaskottchen (K02)
Wir suchen ein Schulmaskottchen. Die K02 suchte sich aus einer Auswahl an Hong Kong Tieren einige aus. Sie sammelten auch Ideen, um uns von ihrem Tier zu überzeugen. Schaut selbst:
