Ruby's class had some fun with positive art. She will share here some of the works and the motivation behind them. Make some for you, too, to stay motivated and fuelled with positivity. 

Y04 did this art activity as part of first wellbeing week. These works aim to help us feel more confident. Each of us highlighted our strengths and embedded this as text in the art work. The words are the main reason why this piece is linked to wellbeing week. The words are positive, shows who you love and is perfect for reminding you about who you are. The different colours represent the emotions of each person. We used pastel and pencils for sketching and colouring. Orange and yellow mean that the person is feeling calm and joyful. Purple means that the person is feeling anxious or sometimes relaxed. Mixed colours mean mixed emotions and skin colour means feeling any emotion. But if you look at their eyes or mouth, you can see their emotions. Some look relaxed and some look weary. If I take this home, I will hang it up in my bedroom and look at it if I’m feeling down. The words will easily cheer me up as they are bright and remind me that my glass is always full and not empty. I wonder what my classmates will do if they take theirs home!

Purple is for imagination, mystery and spirituality. It also symbolises success but is also linked to sadness. Lila steht für Fantasie, Mysterium und Spiritualität. Es symbolisiert auch Erfolg und ist ebenfalls mit Traurigkeit verbunden.

Green stands for positivity, safety and luck. It can have a calming effect just as the green in nature. Grün steht für Positivität, Sicherheit und Glück. Die Farbe kann beruhigend wirken, so wie das grün in der Natur.

Red can raise blood pressure and it can induce hunger. Rot kann unseren Blutdruck erhöhen und hungrig machen.

Pink is playful and fun. It stands for kindness, calmness and romance. It may bring joy and warmness. Pink ist verspielt und macht Spaß. Es steht für Freundlichkeit, Ruhe und Romantik. Es kann Freude und Wärme bringen.

Blue is for calm, trust and intelligence. Blau kann beruhigend wirken, so wie das Meer. Die Farbe steht auch für Vertrauen und Intelligenz.

Orange symbolises energy, happiness and enthusiasm. It can give you a feeling of confidence and boldness. Orange steht für Energie, Glück und Begeisterung. Es könnte dir ein Gefühl von Selbstvertrauen und Kühnheit geben.

For this issue we interviewed a very well known person: Frau Erni. Find out what she shared with us:

So first, we need to know your name! My name is Priska Erni. What do you like to do in your free time? I like to sleep, go for walks and go to restaurants. What's your favourite food? My favourite food is pizza, but I also like healthy foods like vegetables and lasagna. But mainly Italian food. What is your favourite colour? I like the colours purple, blue, turquoise and pink. What's your favourite part of the job? I like that my job has all sorts of things which I can do like I can work with children or I can work with adults, I can do some work on my own, on my computer. But I also work in teams, like teams of two, or bigger groups, so I have a lot of variety. And then also when I was a full time teacher, I would work not only in one area for example if you are working in finance it's all about numbers and money or if you are a secretary you have to write a lot and in my job as a teacher I can do a lot of things. I can write texts, I can do math, but I also can do music so it's quite creative. I can do arts and I do everything a little bit but if you imagine if you would be like a doctor you probably don't have a lot of opportunities to sing or to draw and that's what I really like about my job. When you were like a kid around our age, what did you want to be when you grow up? I think for a long time I wanted to be a hairdresser, but later when I went to secondary school I didn't know what to do.

So I took all my opportunities to visit different jobs, and visited my four sisters, because one is a baker, one is a florist, and I tried out many, many things until I found that the teacher would be the right thing for me. But at your age, it was a hairdresser. What is your favourite place in the entire world? I think at the beach, in Bora Bora, in the French Polynesia. Why? It is just so relaxing, and I like the colours They are like I told you before my favourite colour is turquoise. It is like the colour of my nails and I like it! The beach is really white and the sea is really blue-ish there are also some trees, some palms, and it is really calm, most of the time if you find a nice beach. What are your hobbies? I sometimes make glass beads, so I make my own beads out of glass with fire and everything. So I heat up glass and make new beads out of it. I also like dancing, but I haven't done that in a while. What do you think is special about GSIS? I love GSIS because there are so many different people here, we have people from all over the world, students and teachers. I love that everybody actually likes learning. They all want to be good at school, they want to improve and progress and they like to be at school. Our students are special because they try to look after each other and our teachers are special because they try to look after every student as individually. Do you have a pet? I do not have any. I had cats, in Switzerland, like one cat after the other, but they all died at a very young age. They were sick. What's your favourite car? My favourite car is my car. My car is the only thing I have from Switzerland. It's an old car, it's a white car, it's called MG. It's a convertible and it's older than me. There's a picture of it in the library on the wall.

In Hong Kong gibt es viele große und kleine Vögel. Einige meinen sogar immer wieder Adler zu sehen. Hong Kong wird manchmal von Adlern besucht, vor allem im Winter, aber meist ist der gemeinte Vogel ein Schwarzmilan. Hier lernt ihr mehr über diesen Vogel:

Name: Schwarzmilan Zu welcher Tierart gehören sie? Sie sind Greifvögel und Zugvögel. Wo leben sie? Sie leben in Europa, Afrika, Asien und Australien, zum Beispiel&nbsp;Nordfrankreich, Nordwestdeutschland und Hongkong. In Hongkong sieht man sie häufig über den Country Parks und das Meer fliegen, so wie in Sai Kung,&nbsp;Yeung Chau, Aberdeen, und Tseung Kwan O. Was machst du wenn du einen siehst? Du machst ein Foto, bewunderst wie geschickt sie zwischen den Häusern fliegen und gehst weiter ohne sie zu stören.

Wie alt werden sie? Sie werden bis zu 20 Jahre alt. Wie viele Eier legen sie? Sie legen etwa 2-3 Eier. Männchen und Weibchen ziehen die Vogelbabies dann groß. Was fressen sie? Schwarzmilane sind nicht wählerisch. Sie fressen sehr viele verschiedene Sachen, z. B. Fische,&nbsp;Rebhuhn, Hasen, und Mäuse. Sie fressen aber auch kleinere Tiere sowie Würmer oder Schnecken. Zum Fressen setzen sie sich selten auf den Boden. Sie fressen lieber auf Bäumen sitzend. Ihr Beute greifen sie im Flug ab. Wie sehen sie aus? Sie sind 48cm - 58cm groß und haben braune Federn. Wer isst sie? Die Feinde dieser Vögel sind größer Greifvögel, z.B. der Uhu, Habicht und Seeadler. Was ist das besondere an ihnen? Sie leben nicht in Amerika. In Hong Kong bauen sie ihr Nest aus Papier, Geld, Kleidung und Plastik, vor allem, wenn sie in der Nähe von Müllhalden oder Friedhöfen nisten. Sie schlafen zusammen. Ihr kreischen hört sich wie ein pii-i-i-i an. Was machen sie im Winter? Im Winter ziehen sie in warme Gebiete, z.B. nach Afrika oder Hong Kong.

We tested this game: Ertappt und geschnappt. It is a game that asks the players to pay attention, think fast and make connections between the clues that we are provided by the game.

I think it is for people who like an adrenaline rush&#160;

Game: A crime happened and you, as the police, need to think quick and logically to find the suspect! The suspects are arranged in a circle and a 'warrant card' is placed in the middle. The evidence dice is rolled and now you need to determine who of the people on the warrant card is the culprit. Then you need to see what is the fastest way to get there. Count how many steps from the police officers' position it takes to get to the culprit, show and say the operation card. The fastest police officer wins and gets the card, if they determined the shortest path correctly!

It is a game where you need to think and act.

The game has several extensions with increasing difficulty. We tried the basic version and were already on our toes. We look forward to trying the extensions! Attention: You may encounter conflicts about who was faster if there was a tie.

The summer holidays is THE time to go and visit far away relatives, especially those that are too old and fragile to come and visit us in Hong Kong. Our physically handicapped family members may not be able to go on a walk with us or join a game of soccer. Here are some physical activities you may still be able to do with them. Have fun and create some active memories!

Und so geht es hin und her, wie beim Tennis. Wie oft schafft ihr es den Ballon hin und her zu schlagen, ohne, dass dieser den Boden berührt?

Kissen Basketball Du brauchst: einen Kissenbezug oder Beutel, Sockenbälle und zwei Spieler. Wo: drinnen oder draußen, einer kann sitzen, einer muss laufen Und so geht's: Der laufende Spieler hält den Kissenbezug auf, so dass man etwas hineinwerfen kann. Der sitzende Spieler wirft den Sockenball in den Kissenbezug. Der laufende Spieler ändert seine Position. Mal ist er näher, mal weiter, hält den Kissenbezug oder Beutel höher oder niedriger.

Umbrella Basketball Du brauchst: einen Regenschirm, zusammengerollte Sockenbälle

Wo: Drinner oder draußen, im Sitzen oder im Stehen. Und so geht's: Macht den Regenschirm auf und legt ihn mit der runden Seite auf den Fußboden. Nun wechselt euch ab und versucht die Socken in den Regenschirm zu werfen. Ihr könnt euren Abstand zum Regenschirm ändern und ihn dichter oder weiter wegschieben.

Balloon Bowling Du brauchst: einen Luftballon, 1 Toilettenrolle, leere Flaschen, Schere, 1 Tischtennisball Wo: drinnen Und so geht's: Schneide den dünnen Teil vom Ballon ab und stülpe ihn über die Papierrolle. Nun lege einen Tischtennisball, ziehe am Ballon und schieße den kleinen Ball. Wenn das klappt, stelle leere Flaschen auf, die ihr nun umschießt.

Special Events in Macao Macao shares some festivals with Hong Kong, such as Lunar New Year (Chinese New Year), Ching Ming Festival (Tomb Sweeping) and the Dragon Boat festival. Macao also has events that are unique to Macao. Here are a few:

Accommodations with a little extra something special: The Venetian: The hotel has imitated some Venetian scenery complete with a channel, small boats and the blue sky. Studio City: The hotel features a build-in 8 shaped ferris wheel that allows you to oversee the neighbourhood from way up high. It has a water park and as well as a 4D flight simulation. The Londoner: The hotel features many imitations of famous London sites and invites you to a ride in a Black Cab Escape, along with a holographic David Beckham to the British superstar’s favourite London spots. Lisboeta Macau: The hotel offers skydiving experience (GOAIRBORNE) and Asia Pacific’s first urban zip-line attraction ZIPCITY!&nbsp; Galaxy Macao: This is another hotel that promises some water fun. The Parisian: This hotel has the biggest replica of the Eiffel Tower, though it is not as tall as the original. It also features another water park called Aqua World.

Feast of our god Tou Tei (Shows around Macao) Tou Tei is the Earth God and he is said to be everywhere. Celebrations are held at the Tou Tei Temples around the city. A-Ma-Festival (Operas around Macao) Held on the 19th day of the Third Moon, the annual A-Ma Festival&nbsp;honours the Goddess of Seafarers who gave Macao its name. Feast of the Drunken Dragon (dancing in costumes) The fishermen associations organises this festival, where men perform&nbsp;a drunken dance with the wooden head and tail of a dragon.&nbsp; Tam Kong Festival (more opera) A colourful festival celebrating the birthday of the God Tam Kong. This child god is said to control the weather and help the sick. Annual Formula 1 Event. This yearly racing event has bystanders on their toes as the cars race by!

It is possible to travel again and our neighbouring town, Macao, has a lot more to offer than the hot sun. Patrick has visited the town recently and shares his insights with us:

Tourist Attractions 1. Ruins of St. Paul's Cathedral: It is a miracle that these ruins are still standing. St. Paul was taken down by a fire in 1601 but rebuilt in the year 1637. After almost 2 centuries, the church was destroyed by a fire and typhoon 1835. The remaining facade can still be visited today. 2. A-Ma Temple: The temple was built on the Macau Peninsula for the goddess Matsu in 1488. There is a fierce-looking stone lion and statues of the goddess Matsu. There are shady spots to stop and contemplate the serenity of the temple grounds, as well as spectacular views over the bay. 3. Fortaleza do Monte (Home of the Macau Museum): The fort was built in 1626 was a Portugal's military hub. You will find the Macao Museum, which emphasises on works that show how Chinese, Portuguese, and Macanese people have come to live and work together.

4. Coloane Island: The island is connected to mainland Macao by a bridge and a causeway and lies in the south of Macao. It is home to pine forests, eucalyptus groves, tropical vegetation, farmland, as well as beautiful beaches of fine white sand. 5. Senado Square: The square is surrounded by impressive buildings such as Senate buildings, which was built in 1784. It is a wonderful place start your time in Macao. 6. The Maritime Museum and Fisherman's Wharf: taking the space of an extremely modern building on the other side of the A-ma Temple is the one and only maritime museum holding numbers of displays, including an amazing amount of material of Macao maritime history. 7. Explore the Guia Fortress: you can find the Guia fortress in the large forest centre of Macao. It is only around a kilometer away from the high speed ferry terminal and is accessible for a variety of hiking trails or a short gondola ride. 8. Kun Lam - The Temple of the Goddess of Mercy: made for the Goddess of Mercy, the Kun Lam Temple was built in 1627. In the entrance hall you can see three models of the Buddha showing the past the present and future.

4. Teile deine Deckel in 2 Gruppen und male sie an. Je größer deine Kiste ist, desto mehr Deckel passen rein.

Laura hat euch Ideen rausgesucht, mit denen ihr Menschen, die ihr liebt, eine Freude machen könnt. 

Du brauchst: - 6 bis 10 gleich große Deckel - 2 Gummibänder - 2 Kisten - Kleber - starken Tesafilm - 2 verschieden farbige Stifte - 1 starke Schere oder Cutter

1. Cut an opening in one of the short sides of your boxes. The opening should be about 5 cm wide and at the same location in both boxes. 

5. Teste ob genug Spannung auf dem Gummiband ist um die Deckel zu schießen. Wenn nicht, dann sind die beiden Schlitze zu weit hinten und du solltest neue Schlitze schneiden.

6. Verbinde die beiden Kisten mit Klebeband (orange eingezeichnet).

2. Schneide auf jeder längeren Seite einen Schlitz bis zum Boden, in welchen wir dann das Gummiband rein tun.

3. Spanne das Gummiband und drücke es in die Schlitze, damit es nicht wegrutscht.

7. Wenn die Kisten verbunden sind, könnt ihr spielen. Versucht die Deckel durch die Öffnung zu schießen. Wenn ihr mit einem Partner spielt, hat derjenige gewonnen, der zuerst alle seine Deckel auf die anderen Seite geschossen hat.

Many many years ago, monsters roamed the earth.They had smooth scales, sharp teeth and long claws. Behold the mighty dinosaurs! They were tall and terrible, large and clumsy, and were always feared  by other creatures...except for one tiny triceratops...

His mother brought him breakfast: Soft pancakes dripping with syrup, whipped cream and chocolate chips, toast dripping with golden butter, waffles with rainbow sprinkles, potato salad, parsley porridge, chocolate cookies and orange juice. While Ollie was shovelling his breakfast down his throat, his father called " Ollie, Hurry up! You're going to go camping with your grandma!' Ollie started to eat at a quicker pace. When he was done, he rushed outside and into his grandma's arms.

One fine summer morning, a young triceratops woke up to the sweet sound of the pterodactyls squawking. The delicious smell of parsley porridge, fresh blueberries and maple syrup wafed up to his nostrils. Still only half awake, as he sleepily smiled, his mother nudged his back with one of her horns. "Wake up, Ollie, breakfast is ready!" She laughed as she took off Ollie's blanket and led him into the kitchen. Ollie followed and entered the large kitchen full of noise and food. The smell was stronger now, and Ollie could feel his stomach turning. He couldn't go out and play on an empty stomach!

Ollie trotted over to the dining table in the middle of the room. Ollie took a silver tray and sat down. He picked one of his favourite books and started reading to keep him entertained while he was waiting. After finishing his book, he heard his mom calling: "Ollie, breakfast is ready!"

After a trip on his grandma's back, Ollie finally arrived at his grandma's house. It was a rusty old straw hut behind blueberry bushes. When they went inside, the musky scent of old books filled the room. His grandma had decided to bring her old tales along with her on the camping trip. Ollie had already packed marshmallow's and graham crackers to make s'mores and his favourite book, Treasure Island. Ollie had no idea where he would be going, but he decided to find out when he arrived. Before going to the camp spot, Ollie's grandma packed some of her signature shortcake, tents, sleeping bags and a few more supplies. A few hours later, they were in the campsite, close to a cave. "This is the lair!" said Ollie's grandma proudly as they unpacked. She gestured towards the cave. "Tomorrow we will explore this wonder!" Ollie's brain filled with excitement. He loved adventures! After a dessert of shortcake, they toasted marshmallows and squished them in between the crackers. Afterwards, Ollie was so exhausted that he slept through the whole night until noon.

When Ollie finally woke up, his grandma was nowhere to be seen! 'She'll probably turn up soon."

I loved the plot! It kept me on the edge of my seat every time!

I loved the characters! They&#160; were so well acted!

Instead of an interview we asked a number of people one single question: What makes a good friend? We asked teachers, parents and students. Here are some of the answers:

The BEST Homemade Baked Mac and Cheese

Ingredients 453g&nbsp;elbow macaroni, cooked&nbsp;(or other tubular pasta) 1&nbsp;tbsp&nbsp;extra virgin olive oil 6&nbsp;tbsp&nbsp;unsalted butter 1/3&nbsp;cup&nbsp;all purpose flour 3&nbsp;cups&nbsp;whole milk 1&nbsp;cup&nbsp;heavy whipping cream 4&nbsp;cups&nbsp;sharp cheddar cheese&nbsp;shredded 2&nbsp;cups&nbsp;Gruyere cheese&nbsp;shredded salt and pepper to taste 4&nbsp;tbsp&nbsp;butter&nbsp;melted 1/2&nbsp;cup&nbsp;Parmesan cheese&nbsp;shredded

Extra (Optional) 1/4&nbsp;tsp&nbsp;smoked paprika&nbsp;(or regular paprika) 1 1/2&nbsp;cups&nbsp;panko crumbs

1. Preheat oven to 176C.&nbsp;Lightly grease a large 2839 ml or 3785 ml baking dish and set aside. Combine shredded cheeses in a large bowl and set aside. 2. Cook the pasta one minute shy of al dente according to the package instructions. Remove from heat, drain, and place in a large bowl. 3. Drizzle pasta with olive oil and stir to coat pasta. Set aside to cool while preparing cheese sauce. 4. Melt butter in a deep saucepan, dutch oven, or stock pot. 5. Whisk in flour over medium heat and continue whisking for about 1 minute until bubbly and golden. 6. Gradually whisk in the milk and heavy cream until nice and smooth. Continue whisking until you see bubbles on the surface and then continue cooking and whisking for another 2 minutes.&nbsp;Whisk in salt and pepper. 7. Add two cups of shredded cheese and whisk until smooth. Add another two cups of shredded cheese and continue whisking until creamy and smooth. The sauce should be nice and thick. 8. Stir in the cooled pasta until combined and the pasta is fully coated with the cheese sauce. 9. Pour half of the mac and cheese into the prepared baking dish. Top with the remaining 2 cups of shredded cheese and then layer the remaining mac and cheese on top. 10. In a small bowl, combine panko crumbs, parmesan cheese, melted butter and paprika. Sprinkle over the top. 11. Bake until bubbly and golden brown, about 30 minutes. Serve immediately.

Das Schneckenhaus wächst mit der Schnecke und wird deshalb nie zu klein. Es wächst Schicht für Schicht am Eingang vom Gehäuse weiter. Das bedeutet, dass Schnecken ihr Haus nie verlassen können und mit ihm verwachsen sind.

Motten werden fälschlicherweise oft als nachtaktiven Schmetterlinge bezeichnet.&nbsp;Es gibt aber nachtaktive und tagaktive Motten. Sie sind allesamt sehr kleine bis winzige Arten mit weniger als drei Zentimeter Flügelspannweite, zu denen auch die gefürchtete Kleidermotte gehört. Ihre Raupen ernähren sich im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen Schmetterlingen nicht von Pflanzen, sondern ausschließlich von trockenen, tierischen Substanzen wie Federn, Haaren oder Horn und sie benötigen zur ihrer Entwicklung fast kein Wasser. You can do little acts of kindness every day, weekly or monthly. As long as you do them, you will contribute to making our world a better place. Here are some acts of kindness that you could do in addition to leaving positive notes:

Everybody loves a sweet treat, especially if it is homemade and made with love. So we suggest you can bake a batch of cookies once in a while! You can pack them in little bags, tie them with a ribbon and share them with a friend or people that you would like to say thank you to or show them some appreciation. - Leave kind notes in a public place: In this issue you can find some kindness cards that can be used for this action. Print them out or make your own. You can place them on someone's desk or give them to someone specifically if you feel the note suits that person, their actions or how you feel about them. - Stick a letter in a library book: Create some bookmarks and leave them in books for others to find or stick a sticky note in a book that carries a kind message. - Give someone a hug: Touching is finally possible again. Take the opportunity to show that you care. Sometimes people need a hug to feel better or feel seen but if you are uncomfortable doing so, it may be enough to put your hand around or on their shoulder. - Donate clothes or toys to charity: There is a saying that says one person's trash is another's treasure. That may apply to clothes, toys and books. The clothes that you have outgrown or you do not fancy anymore may be perfect for another child! Toys that you do like anymore but are in good or even perfect condition because you hardly played with them can make other children very happy. Donate them to charities that take care of grass root families, refugees and other people in need. -Smile: A smile can change your mood and someone else's. A smile may be as contagious as a yawn. Don't hide yours. Give it generously and help others use the facial muscles to smile. -Share: Have you noticed someone looking into your snackbox and admiring your snack? That is a sure sign that sharing something from your snackbox would please them! However, sharing should not be limited to food. Sharing can involve, sharing toys, sharing a moment of peace or friendship and less tangible things.
