THE PROJECT LOGO

At the beginning of the project the groups of students were asked to design the logo of the project. The following logos emerged from the collaboration of the students and they were used in various activities. Stredni Skola Spolecneho Stravovani, Ostrava-Hrabuvka, Prispevkova Organizace (Czech Republic) Střední škola Společného stravování is a secondary school of gastronomy located in Ostrava, near the borders of Poland. The school prepares young people for the following&nbsp;practical professions:&nbsp;a cook, a waiter, and a confectioner. The three-year study is finished with a Certificate of Apprenticeship. There are also four-year educational branches: catering and accommodation services and tourism services, which are completed with the Maturita final exam as well. The students participate in numerous gastronomic, cultural, and environmental projects. Our school holds its own competitions in respective fields, such as Čokoládová vařečka (Chocolate spoon). SCHOOL PARTNERS OF THE PROJECT

During the 2023-2024 school year, a European e-twinning educational project entitled "Students adopt and present the monuments of their region" took place at Anavyssos General High School (Greece), at Ies Guia (Spain- Canary Islands), at Escola Secundaria Almeida Garret, Vila Nova De Gaia (Portugal), at Liceul “Mihai Viteazul” Bumbesti – Jiu (Romania) and at Stredni Skola Spolecneho Stravovani, Ostrava- Hrabuvka, Prispevkova Organizace (Czech Republic). This project was created and coordinated by the Greek teacher Georgousi Eleni. E Twinning is an initiative of the European Commission through which schools from different European countries, using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), work together to achieve pedagogical, social and cultural benefits. In this project, an attempt was made for the students to study important monuments of their country in order to get to know the national culture, as well as the European one, through the exchange of information with students from other European countries. Specifically, the students chose some monuments in their area and studied their history. They also explored the role they played in the era they were founded, but also their role in our time, as well as the risks they face from climate change. In the end, they created a digital scrapbook with video presentations of the monuments they studied. The aims of the project were the following: 1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The acquaintance of the students with the monuments of the national and european cultural heritage and their history. 2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Getting to know and working with students from European schools to promote unity and the cultivation of European consciousness. 3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The survey with questionnaires of the students' perceptions of the monuments. 4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The design and realization of the presentation of the monuments by digital means. 5.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Aesthetic cultivation of students. 6.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The awareness of the value of monuments and the need to protect them. 7.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The development of cooperative ability. The collaboration of the students was carried out with the help of the twinspace website of the European School Education Platform (ESEP).

1. General High School of Anavyssos (Greece) Anavyssos General High School is a secondary education school located in Anavyssos, near Sounio, and 60 kilometers from Athens. General education courses are taught at the school. The course lasts three years and in the third year students can take exams to continue their studies at university. The school has approximately 250 students between the ages of 15 and 18 and 20 teachers. The students also participate in various educational programs related to culture, the environment and sports. I would like to participate in this project because through this exercise I myself will learn more information about the history of our monuments but also of other countries. Also, like last year, I would like to meet all the children and exchange different opinions. Antonia, Greece I chose this project because its a good idea how to connect students from different countries who must work together to achieve tasks. It's collective work and this can help us with english language. It is connected between schools around the word so we can meet some new people and talk about interesting things.&nbsp; &nbsp; Adela, Czech Republic I have decided to take part in this project because I want to experience new things, to talk with new people, and obviously, to learn how to communicate better in English. This project is very interesting for me. Liceul "Mihai Viteazul" Bumbesti-Jiu (Romania) 	“Mihai Viteazul” High School is located in Bumbeşti-Jiu, a small town in Gorj County, south-west of Romania, on the river Jiu with a population of almost 10,500. In this area people can visit the monasteries Lainici and Vişina (built in 1418), and a&nbsp;VillageMuseum.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 	There are 300 pupils and 20 teachers in our school. The branches of study are: Philology and Technical Studies both for high school studies, but also for postgraduate classes. 	Most of our pupils live in this small town, but some of them live in the neighbour villages. They have got access to Internet and like the English language. Even if they cannot speak it fluently, they try to improve it and are interested in all our activities that involve using English. They are very friendly and eager to make new friends, especially from other countries in order to use the English language as much as possible. There are some students who are looked after by their grandparents or only by one of their parents because in this area there are many people who left to work abroad. STUDENT'S INTEREST IN THE PROJECT

In one of the activities on the twinspace platform forum, the students were asked why they chose this project. Here are some of the students' responses. I chose to participate in this project because I like to meet new people and learn about&nbsp;the history of other countries, and I want to improve my English. Alba, Gran Canaria (Spain) I chose to participate in this project since I found it interesting that I'll get to meet some other people, and that I'll get to learn some new things. I was also very excited to get to use the English language since I (personally) think I'm good at it, and I like practicing a language by talking to people, because it's entertaining. A lot of my friends took place to this too, so it's even better, cause I like having company, and I do not like working alone. This obviously was a great choice, cause not only it's fun, but there are projects that require art, and since it's one of my favourite things to do, I'm more than grateful that I had this opportunity. Michaela , Greece I’m here because the project is very interesting and important to discover&nbsp;the world. The reason why I chose to participate in this project is because I am very interested in history and I want to learn new information about the culture and the monuments of other countries. Moreover, in my opinion this project can really help in the field of socialising and broadening my horizons. Nektaria, Greece I chose to participate in this project because I think it's once in a while opportunity to collaborate with people that you meet for the first time and you have a completely different vision about everything. Furthermore it helps you gain the skill of cooperation by talking to people that have different opinions from you . Moreover i find this project fun and new for me .
