We had a turkey bowl at the end of the day on Friday before Thanksgiving break. We had a bowling competition using frozen turkeys instead of bowling balls and it was awesome! It was nice to do some team building as a part of the instructional staff.

Getting to know all the kids and them being excited when I come to teach in their classes! The hugs are the best part ☺️

PreK - Challenge Accepted
Words by Sylvia Huber
PreK- I have made it my goal to get into as many PreK classes as possible this year, as I really hadn’t in years past. I am so proud and happy to say that I have been able to get into many of my PreK classes, truly helping teachers set up the digital foundation for their students’ academic careers! They so enjoy the virtual field trips and my Spanish is even getting better lol!

Jamboard Thanks
Words by Sylvia Huber
Thank You Mrs. Huber- This image just makes my Grinch heart grow three sizes! I have a 1st grade class that is the SWEETEST group of kids you will ever meet! For Thanksgiving, they created a THANK YOU JAMBOARD for me and the two friends in the picture—their papers said they were thankful for Mrs. Huber ♥ To say I was touched is the understatement of the year!

Learning from Others
Tech & SPED
Words by Sarah Clayton
Learning from others, especially getting to partner up with the BEST librarian. Ms. Dobbs has shown me what it means to truly collaborate. We do Broadcast, book club, and so many other things. I’m blessed to not only have an amazing role model, but equally blessed to have an awesome tech team.
P.S. this is us at Character Day in our Kate the Chemist costumes which is our current book club pick.

As a DLC, my heart still gravitates to innovating technology for our special education populations of students. Utilizing technology (ipad), student listens to the sound of the color and matches straws to the correct cup with the colored index card. Tapping into student’s sensory input needs and redirecting behavior while learning

Words by Deanna MenchacaThe best personal moment of 2021 for me was the marriage of my son Nicholas to his wife Allison. Professionally the best moment this year was the students I pull for STEM activities figuring out how to make their robots go.

Nepris, Toys & Research
Words by Chejuana Willis-Martin
I loved being apart of the planning and presenting of this lesson. 3rd Grade students had the opportunity to listen and speak with an authentic toy designer! The questions wouldn't stop and the presenter was so overwhelmed with the in-depth questions he offered to Zoom with us again. A great learning experience had by all!!!

1. Jayla was adamant she would NEVER give a TED talk - alas, she ended up being the first to volunteer
2. Legos are FUN for all
3. Friendsgiving full of laughter
4. Amir, one of my lunch bunch buddies
His most recent question: "My dad says we are made of clay. If we are made of clay - why aren't all of us gray?"
When he got glasses: "Now, I can see in HD"

Best moment so far professionally has been working with Lego robots to promote growth mindset.
Best moment personally is getting a dog.

Science Fieldtrip
Here's a few fun moments for me! I was able to help chaperone our 5th grade field trip to the Science Learning Center. It brought me back to my science roots. It was fun for the students to see me get excited about science, even though I was the "technology lady" 😉 We got to dissect owl pellets too

And another fun thing I got to help with was the Spelling Bee. We sent invitations to all the parents of the students who were participating in the bee. At one point I was managing and helping with the zoom and broadcast of the bee... with 21 active participants on the zoom call. It was a fun day!
Consequences
I was able to teach a lesson on Plagiarism for a group of GT 5th grade students. We did a few activities along the way, but the closing activity was a Padlet... And here's one of the responses. Made me LOL!!! I think he meant to say "jail" but instead described it hahahahah (a small place with strong bullies 🤣)
