CEIP MANUEL SIUROT - LA RODA DE ANDALUCÍA
On April 21 we enjoyed the visit of our Finnish friends to our school. We had lunch with them and with the families of our students and we show them and explain the typical things of our land: the production of olive oil, old tools and antiques. In addition, since our project is related to water, we visited the Fuente de Piedra salt lagoon. It is the largest in Andalusia, with its 1,400 ha, is a unique location within the wet zones of the Western Mediterranean. It is home to the largest colony of flamingoes to be found anywhere in the Iberian Peninsula, second in importance in Europe after France Camargue. Unfortunately, we have not been able to see flamingos due to the severe drought that we are suffering. However, we have all enjoyed this unique and unforgettable experience.

On April 24 we visited the Selwo Marina park with our Finnish friends because our project deals with water and there is no better way than to learn and enjoy together!
Selwo Marina is a sea life park that is home to many plant and animal species from all over the world, including dolphins, penguins, sealions, exotic birds, crocodiles, snakes, piranhas, anacondas, sea rays and much more.
The park puts on dolphin shows and a number of different presentations and encounters with different species. There is also an ice island inhabited with penguins where we could watch them go about their daily business, eating and swimming in the freezing waters.
Selwo Marina is also a conservation centre where we could learn about how to respect and protect animals’ natural habitats.
Thank you for your visit!
