I really want to see the Wreck of Peter Iredale. I think it will be very cool to see a shipwreck. I also love to see actual things from history not just something someone has recreated. It’s also especially interesting because it’s on a public beach and no one has taken it to a museum yet.

The animal I most want to see is an octopus. I think it’s because when I think of Oregon I think of octopi. Also we are working with and aquarium so I would really want to see one.
Did you know that octopi have three hearts?
My favourite type of octopi is a dumbo octopus. The dumbo octopus is my favourite animal.

Oregon Day 2
Fort Stevens
This was the view from where people would watch out for ships
Today we went to Fort Stevens State Park. Fort Stevens is an old fort that was used mainly in WWII. Fort Stevens was also one of the only forts that was attacked by the Japanese. We started our tour by learning about Battery Pratt. Battery Pratt is where someone would look out for enemy ships. Once we were done there we went and looked at a disappearing riffle. Disappearing riffle are like large cannons that the enemies can’t see as they are approaching. The riffle comes up so quick that the enemies don’t have time to react, so their boat would sink. Then we move on and saw the gun powder and we saw the room where the men would make the calculations for how to shot the riffle. Then we went to this very cool underground hideout. It was very large and it had lots of rooms. One of the more interesting room was the one where they had been testing out a bigger riffle. It had failed but it was very cool to see where this large cannon had been. That’s my recap on Fort Stevens.
High Life Adventures
Me and Amy racing Cam and Logan
I think having fun activities are good for smaller towns because it brings people into the town. If Astoria didn’t have a zip lining course probably only older people would come in but having a zip line course brings in a different demographic. More families have probably started coming around since the zip lines have been put there. Having a different demographic will bring more people to the other businesses in Astoria.
Nisa’s Thai
Today I tried pad Thai. It was really good and taste like peanuts. If I were at a Thai restaurant I would order it again.
Oregon Day 3
First Nations
Before the first colonist came there where the First Nations who lived on the land. The land known as the unknown land. They had traditions and beliefs that had been passed down to them. So when the first British came the First Nations welcomed them and helped them learn about the land, the plants and the legend. But little did the First Nations know that all the fist colonist cared about was power and land. So they tried to kill the First Nations people and steal their tradition. They used blankets covered in diseases and then later put hem in residential schools to make Canada completely First Nations culture free. The last residential school in Canada closed in the 1970’s. They are still recovering from what the first colonists did to them and they culture all these decades later.
