"Why are you throwing that away?" asked the Sustainable Squirrel. "This is not the newest toy, I need to buy the newest toy from my favourite toy store," explained the New Toy Turtle.

The Art Ant thought about what the Sustainable Squirrel had said and decided, "I will not put my old art in the trash, I will use the recycling or make it into something new." She walked away happily.

"Why are you throwing that away?" asked the Sustainable Squirrel. "These are not fashionable anymore, I need to buy the newest clothes from my fashion magazine," explained the Fashionable Frog.

"All that paper comes from trees, it takes a lot of trees to make all that paper." the Sustainable Squirrel explained. "Instead you can use the recycling bin or you can use your old artwork to make new art work!"

This story is about the Sustainable Squirrel and her job to reduce the amount of trash she sees in her city. She helps her friends come up with ideas on ways to reduce the amount of garbage they are throwing away. The items the characters are throwing away were deliberately chosen to emulate real-life experiences that children may have with a specific focus on over consumption. The illustrations were all done by hand by Samantha Clay.

The fashionable frog came and threw away brand new clothes with the tags still on them.

The New Toy Turtle came and threw away a brand new toy.

The Art Ant came and threw away all her old artwork.

"It takes a lot of materials to make new clothing, if you always buy new clothes the old ones eventually end up in the garbage." the Sustainable Squirrel explained. "Instead why don't you use your clothes until you need new ones, then we will put less waste in the landfill. You can also recycle your clothes or donate them to someone in need!"

"Plastic never decomposes." the Sustainable Squirrel explained. "It stays in the environment forever!" "Instead you get a reusable water bottle which means using less plastic."

"Why are you throwing that away?" asked the Sustainable Squirrel. "These are empty, I need to throw them away," explained the Water Bottle Walrus.

The Fashionable Frog thought about what the Sustainable Squirrel had said and decided, "I will not buy new clothing unless I need it from now on." She walked away happily.

The Water Bottle Walrus thought about what the Sustainable Squirrel had said and decided, "I will get a new reusable water bottle and bring it with me everywhere." He walked away happily.

The sustainable squirrel wondered who was throwing away all the garbage! She sat and waited for somebody to come by.

The New Toy Turtle thought about what the Sustainable Squirrel had said and decided, "I will not put new or old toys in the garbage, I will donate them." He walked away happily.

"Why are you throwing that away?" asked the Sustainable Squirrel. "This is my old artwork, I need to throw it away," explained the Art Ant.

The Water Bottle Walrus came and threw away all his empty plastic water bottles.

Water Bottle Walrus, New Toy Turtle, Fashionable Frog, Art Ant and The Sustainable Squirrel all worked together to make the big, HUGE pile of garbage smaller and smaller everyday.

The sustainable squirrel was walking down the sidewalk in the city when she saw a big, HUGE pile of garbage!

"It takes a lot of materials to make new toys, if you always buy new toys the old ones eventually end up in the garbage." the Sustainable Squirrel explained. "Instead you can use your toys in different ways or donate your old toys to children that cannot afford to have toys."
