Barn owls have heart shaped faces. They have a white face. That makes it easier to tell the difference between other owls. They usually live near farms and open spaces. They have longer wings than any other owl. They are the best for flying over countries where there are a few trees here and there. They also have a thin, elongated beak, smaller eyes. Their wings are rounded. They hunt in open fields.

The Great Horned Owl stirs. Its sensitive ears pick up distant calls of crows. It becomes alert and swivels its head to survey its surroundings. Then it settles down relaxes its feathers and slowly closes its eyes. It lives in a habitat such as forest, woodlands, along rivers, open fields, meadows, farmlands and suburbs.

Snowy Owls have thicker feathers than any other owl and that helps with the weather where they live. They live any where that is cold because they're of course snowy owls you won't find a snow owl where you live. It lives in Northern Tundra, where it blends in with it surroundings. It's long warm coat of feathers reaches all the way down to its toes! Even it's bill is covered in snowy white feathers. Without snowy owls, there would be so many of lemmings, that it would destroy so many plants of the north country where they live! That is terrible to think about! The number of snowy owls also increases because the lemmings eat then they protect the babies then the babies grow up then they get eaten just like their parents. Their are lots of lemmings so then the snowy owls can eat. The number of lemmings also increases then helps the snowy owls grow and grow. Without lemmings the snowy owls would die from starvation. The lemmings increase in numbers for four years!

This is a Screech Owl. It lives in evergreen, mixed and deciduous forests and along forest edges. In winter, they sun themselves by poking their heads out of tree holes. The Screech Owl may be small, but because it often lives in or near towns and cities and calls a lot, it is one of the most familiar owls of eastern and central.

An owl prefers a dead mouse or rat. If you are a kid you might be used to having your mom make you dinner. But if you are an owl you have to get it your self. They usually use their talons to catch prey.

You can find owls everywhere accept for Antarctica. Owls make nests in dry desserts, rain soaked jungles and thick forests. Owls fly around at night looking for food and homes. Owls usually fly around looking for homes in abandoned houses.

This is a Burrowing Owl. The Burrowing Owl is one of the easiest and most fun to observe. It mostly hunts at night, but it can be seen in the daytime but not all the time. It stand on a mound of soil i the daytime.
