It's the second most wonderful time of the year! Halloween 2020 is just around the corner. The coronavirus pandemic has changed the lives of many people, but there are still many ways to celebrate Halloween this year.
A long time ago, people would light big fires and wear costumes to scare away ghosts. In time, Halloween turned into a special day for trick-or-treating, dressing in costumes, and pumpkin carving. Even this year, people plan to celebrate Halloween. It just might look a little bit different.
One way to practice Halloween safety this year is to wash your hands before and after trick-or-treating. If you go trick-or-treating, you need to be sure to wear a mask, but you may want to avoid trick-or-treating since it exposes you to other people. You can still celebrate by carving pumpkins, watching Halloween movies, and

eating snacks and candy with your family.
Even if you are careful about COVID-19, you need to still follow basic safety rules for Halloween night. If you go trick-or-treating, have someone 18 years or older come with you. Be careful with the candy you eat by having an adult check it.
Corn mazes or candy corn? It is up to you to decide how you want to celebrate this spooky season this year. Just remember to stay safe and have fun!

One night, a girl named Stephanie was brushing her teeth while getting ready for bed. Stephanie’s mom had told her to clean up her room before going to bed.
When Stephanie finished brushing her teeth, she went into her room and saw that her bed was full of clothes and stuffed animals. Instead of cleaning her room like her mom told her to, she just threw all of the clothes and stuffed animals into the corner of her room by her nightlight.
Stephanie went and turned off the main light in her, and it was dark. She couldn’t see anything because of how dark her room was, so she stumbled through the darkness to go turn on the nightlight.
After she turned on her nightlight, she turned around and saw a huge shadow on her wall. She thought it was a monster! Stephanie screamed and then ran and jumped into bed and hid under her blanket. Stephanie’s mom quickly ran to Stephanie’s room, turned on the lights, and asked frightened Stephanie what was wrong and why she was screaming.
Stephanie said to her mom, “there’s a monster in my room!”. Stephanie’s mom

asked her where she saw the monster because she did not see the monster Stephanie was talking about.
Stephanie told her mom that the monster was just there, but it must have ran away when the main light was turned on. Mom told Stephanie, “let’s see if the monster comes back when we turn the lights on.” Mom turned off the main light and suddenly the huge shadow Stephanie thought was a monster was back on the wall. Stephanie screamed, “See, there it is!”.
Stephanie’s mom looked over at the corner of the room and saw the pile of clothes and stuffed animals that Stephanie had thrown on the floor instead of cleaning them up like she was supposed to. Her mom noticed that one of the stuffed animals was sitting right in front of the nightlight and was casting a huge shadow on the wall making Stephanie think it was a monster.
Mom turned on the main light and said to Stephanie, “I see what’s happening. One of your stuffed animals is sitting in front of your nightlight. When the main light is turned off, the shadow of the stuffed animal is being cast on to the wall!”.
Stephanie got out of bed and put her clothes and stuffed animals away. After Stephanie finished cleaning, she got back into bed and her mom tucked her in. When Stephanie’s mom turned off the main light, the huge shadow was no longer on the wall in her room.
Stephanie overcame her fear because she learned there was no monster in her room. Stephanie told her mom goodnight and went to sleep. She slept peacefully.
