Learning Block 3+4: Destination Imagination

When my DI team gets bored they don’t really want to work so they don’t. Since were the improv team there’s not much more we can do to prepare other than practice. Something that didn’t work for my team was the amount of noise and people in the sweatbox. My team tends to get very distracted when their other friends are in the room especially when those friends come and talk to hem while we work. I brought my growth mindset and my organization to the collaboration. Next time I think I would try to get my DI team to focus a little better. Another thing I think I could do better next time is taking more time to plan with my team because right now we all to to communicate better than we have been. I think we could overall work better together than we did this advance. I think a lot the distraction comes from straying from the task and people form other groups coming to distract them.

Day 1 dinner: Lasagne, Cesar Salad, Garlic Bread, Carrot Cake.

Day 2 Breakfast: French Toast, Pancakes, Fruit, Yogurt, Maple Syrup.

Day 2 Dinner: fajitas, salad, chocolate rice crispy things.

Day 3 breakfast: bacon, scrambled eggs, cinnamon raisin toast, fruit.

Day 3 Lunch: Chicken Strips, French Fries, Salad

Day 3 Dinner: Roast Beef, Yorkshire Pudding, Salad, Gravy

Day 4 Breakfast: Belgium Waffles, Strawberry Syrup, Maple Syrup, Whip Cream, Fruit, Yogurt. 

Day 4 Lunch: Chicken Burgers, Caesar Salad, Fries 

We did this skill with Mr Harris it was all about masking photos and layering them. Something I know now that I didn’t before is that you can change the size of the masking tool, I thought it was only one size. I think I can apply this in the future by editing the photos I take and make them better. I can also apply this skill in my current humanities project about the rennisence for my final product. I realized that masking and layering are very important tools that can make your photo look a lot better and are very helpful. I also realized that SuperimposeX is a very cool tool to use when editing photos.

Next PLP expedition I’m going to bring a better pillow because this expedition I brought a super small and stiff pillow and ended up also sleeping on my sweater. I think this tells me that next PLP field studies are going to be a lot of fun but definitely some work. Next time I’m going to tell a teacher the first night there are people running around/talking at night because they dont listen when we tell them to stop. I think something challenging next time will be missing the classes that aren’t PLP that I’m in.

In this activity I was sitting on the couch but before this video was taken I was playing a card game. I think during the card game I think I was using the collaborating competency because I was talking with people and we were working together. I think I challenged myself because I was feeling very overwhelmed during the game because there was a lot of noise before we started playing. I think that challenged me because I was outside of my comfort zone and panicking a bit but I got through it. During the video like I said I was chilling on the couch and I think I was using the personal awareness and responsibility because I was taking care of myself by relaxing.

I’m not in this video because I was the one filming but I played the next round so i’ll talk about that. I think I used restive thinking in this activity because I had to think outside the box to come up with strategies to eliminate the other team. I also think I used the social awareness and responsibility competency because I had to take purposeful action to support my teammates, wether that be yelling at them from the side or playing on the field. Some of my strengths in this game was strategy and teamwork. A stretch for me was actually firing the arrow because I dont have that much arm strength so it was hard to get enough momentum and i’m also not the best at aiming so I never hit a target (person or dice). Another stretch for me was getting an arrow because they were really hard to reach. Next time I would take more chances by running and grabbing more arrows instead of waiting to be taken out. I also think I could improve on my communication while I’m on the field because my team and I communicated at the beginning but not during. I think the last thing I could improve on is my aim which kind of verges on me taking chances because without taking chances I won’t be able to improve my aim.

I learned that when you build a shelter in the woods you should find a big already existing log or branch to build off. When I built my shelter it wasn’t very stable so it we couldn’t put too much weight on it or it would fall over. I think the best type of shelter is a lean too because it’s the sturdiest and when you build it on a log it’s very good at holding weight so you can use lots of logs and moss to keep the water out. I think I can apply this knowledge in the future if I ever get stuck in the forest without shelter. I can also apply it to the future if I decide to study and get a job in the survival industry. I already knew quite a bit about building shelters from a mount Seymour camp I did a while ago.

Hi! My name’s Sydney. I’m a PLP 8 learner. My favorite subjects in school are English and History. Some of my hobbies are singing, dancing and acting (aka musical theatre) I’ve met some amazing people while doing it. I hav a dog who’s name is Thor and he’s a tiny little dog with brown, white and gray fur. Contrary to my dog I currently have brown, pink and orange hair. When I took this photo I was walking through the woods and it was really quiet and nice and I think this photo captures that energy.

I’m really excited to hopefully do some kind of high ropes course. I’ve been afraid of heights for a while and I think they’ll help me get over my fear. Also thier really fun to do.

I think I’m going to learn about teamwork because it’s really important for PLP
