Spring 1 - Tuesday 3rd January to Thursday 9th February 2023Mrs Robinson's Round Up
Another busy half term full of fabulous learning experiences.
Our Poppy class have particularly enjoyed learning all about Chinese New Year and created some beautiful artwork for their displays.
Year 3 have been learning all about tectonic plates and different rock types in their ‘Rocks and Relics’ project, including the creation of some fantastic fossils this week. Year 4 have been delving into their project ‘Blue Abyss’, exploring food chains in the deep, learning more about the oceans and looking at the impact of pollution on animals and their habitats.
Year 5 have been learning more about the groundbreaking Greeks, comparing life now to 2,000 years ago. The children studied a range of historical resources when creating their Greek pots this week. They will decorate these fabulous replicas after half term. Year 6 have been exploring the polar regions, completing some wonderful writing linked to their project. They also spent a day in our woods, orienteering and became polar explorers just like Shackleton.
Phenomenal learning across the school. Well done Bude Juniors!

Mrs Robinson's Round Up
We have very much been enjoying the appearance of the sunshine which hints towards the warmer days that lie ahead.
We have lots to look forward to in spring 2, with our first ever Year 4 residential, World Book day celebrations, a visit from Paralympian Kate Grey, more exciting projects and much more!
The staff team have noticed that the children across the school have been making a real effort to be polite and kind to each other and the adults. This is really wonderful to see.

P.E. with Mr Brown and Sports Leaders
This term in PE we have been learning how to play tennis. We began with the basics, understanding how to hit a forehand and backhand shot over a net, before moving onto serving. We have also learnt how to play a match and began to understand the scoring system, resulting in playing half sets.
This term in after school club we have been playing Lacrosse. This has been a great success with many children discovering it for the very first time! The clubs have been well attended and everyone involved has adapted really well to the complicated format of play and made sure to play safely at all times.

This term our fantastic year six sports leaders have been preparing lessons in order to teach down at Bude Infants. EYFS have enjoyed several fun and varied Bikeability sessions on our balance bikes and learnt among other things, how to stay stable, safe and in space, as well as beginning to lift their legs off the ground. Yet again every leader has done themselves and the school proud.
