On my first day of school I was really excited, On the bus I sat beside my older brother. However when we went inside the classroom I became really scared because I didn't know anyone and I was sure that my brother would be in the same class as me! Norbert

First Day Lasting Friendships

My first day in Bekan N.S. was very nerve-racking. I was scared because I was a little late but Miss Lyons was really welcoming and I felt better almost at once. Since I was late some of the children stared at me while others continued to play with their toys. While I was looking around I noticed this one little girl still looking at me so I went over to her. I sat down beside her and introduced myself. She told me that her name was Sara. We started playing with the dolls together and I knew instantly that I had met my best friend. Shahd

Miss McNeive was my teacher in Senior Infants. I can't remember who I sat beside on the first day but I remember that the first friend I made was Conor. I won pupil of the week and got to bring Ted home. Ted was a teddy bear that used to spend a week with you. You had to bring him on adventures and tell the class about it when you brought him back to school. We had great fun taking pictures. Ben

Near the end of Senior Infants, Mr Kelly surprised us with his retirement. He even brought the pancake factory for us. The pancakes were delicious! Hashir

1st Pupils To Use The New Classroom

In Mrs Kennedy's and Mr Reilly's class I made my communion and was the king in the Christmas concert. The first person I sat beside was Michael Morley. We were the first class to use the new classroom it was a Monday we got no homework that day. Ben

In 2nd class the teachers switched classes again. Now we had Mrs Kennedy and Mr Reilly in the prefab. At the end of the year we had to move into the new classroom. That was a fun day. We didn’t do any work and played hide and seek all day. Hashir

I remember for my communion I was really nervous. I was also happy as I got to see my family who came over from Poland. When I got home I took off my shoes straight away as they were so sore and uncomfortable. Apart from that , the day was great! Norbert

Our First Holy Communion

On my Communion day I had the Chicken pox. I was not happy about that but I did make loads of money. Jason

When we were in 2nd class, some people from
the army came as it was the 100th anniversary of the Easter Rising. They showed us their badges and army clothes. We learned a little about the Easter Rising. We had a special ceremony for raising the flags. We invited the parents to it and we performed for them. Hashir

Memories from 3rd and 4th Class

Once in 3rd or 4th class I “forgot” about my birthday. I think then Norbert,Rowan and Connor told me on the bus that it was my birthday. I was really confused because I remembered my mom telling me that my birthday was in a week! So then I believed them and in school I ended up getting an early birthday (I am still confused to this day) David

I was with Miss McNeive again for 3rd and 4th class. I had one of my surgeries and all the class made me get well cards. I showed them my scar when I got back to school. Ben

I can still remember the day that Adam Mulkeen left to go to Canada. I was so sad that day. He came back in 3rd Class for two weeks though and called into the classroom. It was great to see him again. Michael
