2018 Book Recommendations from FMS & FES StudentsIsabelle’s Top 10 Books
1. Max Crumbly: Locker Hero
Max Crumbly is an 8th grade boy who is unpopular and struggles with bullies. One afternoon, a bully pushes him in his locker which causes him to be stuck there all weekend. Eventually, he manages to break a hole in the backside of his locker, and escapes. He crawls through the vents of his school and gets to the computer lab where he finds some robber trying to steal computers. Will Max ever escape the school? This book is a cliff hanger. I would rate this book a 5 star because it was funny and kept me on the edge of my seat.

Max Crumbly is an 8th grade boy who gets pushed around by bullies. This book left off where the first book ended. His new friend Erin helps him escape the school while trying to stop some robbers in the computer lab. This book will only make sense if you read #1 first. I definitely recommend this book, in my opinion this book is 5 stars, because it was thrilling and funny.

3. The Dogs of Christmas
Josh works from home on his computer. One day he is forced to dogsit a pregnant dog. Josh ends up going to a shelter with the newborns, because he has never had a dog before and doesn’t know what he’s doing. He meets a woman named Kerri, who helps him raise the puppies. Eventually he has to return the mother dog, Lucy, to her original owner. Also, he puts the puppies up for adoption. He realizes he wants to keep the puppies, but it’s too late. Will Josh ever get the puppies back? This book was really good. I would rate it 5 stars because it was touching and funny. I absolutely recommend this book.

Cecilia Murray volunteers at the dog shelter every day. Eventually a new pug dog comes. She wants to keep the dog for herself, but she can’t have a dog because of her aunt. Eric Chung (an arrogant boy at her school) adopts Potato (the dog). What will Cecilia do? Sabotage Eric or let him have the dog. This book was funny, and had me full of anticipation. I would rate it 4 stars because it was pretty good but it wasn’t life changing. I recommend this book.

Nikki Maxwell is an 8th grade girl who dislikes a mean girl at her school. In the beginning Nikki is just with her friend Brandon to train her dog. When Nikki goes to school she is asked to be a student ambassador. When Andre (the exchange student) arrives, she shows him around the school. Eventually, Mackenzie starts drama with Nikki and Andre. What will Nikki do? I would rate this book 5 stars because it had lots of drama and I was on the edge of my seat. I recommend this book.
6. Stealing Our Way Home
Jack and Pippa are siblings whose mom has recently passed away from cancer. They live with their dad, who is never home. When Dad can’t find the money to pay for the house, they resort to something illegal. Can Pippa stop Dad before it goes too far? This book was so good, 5 stars! I absolutely recommend this book!

Joey is a boy who struggles with ADHD. He is always in trouble. One day he gets into so much trouble that he is suspended, and forced to go to a special ed school. If he behaves Joey may be able to come back to public school. Will Joey return? This book in my opinion is 4 stars because it was so funny. I recommend this book for people who want to have a good laugh.

This book takes place in modern day. The “wimpy kid” is Greg Heffly, a middle school-age boy. He has two brothers, he is the middle child. In the beginning and middle, he is explaining the struggles of the previous summer, and his class assignments. The ending was about the school talent show, and how his older brother (Rodrick) wants to enter. After the talent show, the family had to help Rodrick re-do his science fair project. This book is a 3.5 star for me because even though it was funny, it wasn’t life changing. If you like comedy, then I recommend this book for you.
9. Diary of a Wimpy Kid #6: Cabin Fever
Greg Heffly is facing a storm, a snow storm. Greg and his best friend Rowly were hanging posters around town. It started to rain, and the posters on the school stared to make green marks. They almost got in trouble for vandalism, but they escaped in time. The school principal keeps trying to find out who did it. At the same time, a snow storm begins, and there is no school for a while. Will they figure out that it’s Greg? This book was funny, but not life changing. I would rate it a 3.5 star book. I would recommend it for people who like humor.
10. Throw Like A Girl
This book is written by the former Olympian, Jennie Finch. This book gives inspirational tips and softball tips. I would rate this book 5 stars because it’s inspirational. I recommend this book.
