The picture shows the harvest in July. A man reaps the grain with an old scythe and a woman collects the grain and makes sheaves for threshing. It's a hot July day. From the field you can see a hill on which there is a village and old country houses with yards.

Following the example of painted breviaries, 6th grade students made a presentation of medieval chores through the twelve months of the year. They complemented the images with a short description.

Outcomes - the student will be able to: -&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;analyze historical sources -&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;explain what a breviary is -&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;describe the economy of the Middle Ages with an emphasis on the area of their homeland - the use of renewable energy sources of water from the Middle Ages to the present 💦💦💦

The picture shows a man working the land using a plow with a metal plow and a wheel. In the distance you can also see the man who took the sheep to pasture and the castle at the top of the hill. The castle is yellow with a red roof and is surrounded by yellow walls.

In the picture, I showed a young man and a young girl exchanging rings.

People in the Middle Ages did things much harder than they do today because the tools they used were not very developed. In this drawing we see how people used to sow wheat in the month of October. They mostly worked by hand and with the help of animals.

I drew the month of February. In this drawing I have shown the hardships of the peasants' life in the winter.

&nbsp;It is shown how people chop firewood, go hunting with dogs and come to the field to get left hay and corn which they later dried for animal feed in the winter months.

Green polka dot border

The picture shows a mill in which grain was ground: wheat, barley, rye, and later corn. There were 20 such mills in Ivanec - along the Bistrica stream, from Prigorac to the river Bednja. They were important for the economic development of the Ivanec region, but also as a place where the inhabitants of Ivanec gathered and socialized and exchanged information about social events. Today, there are few of them left and they mostly serve as a tourist attraction 💦💦💦

The Breviary in the Catholic Church is a prescribed book of daily prayers for the clergy and monks. Medieval manuscripted breviaries have a palaeographic and artistic value because they are illuminated by miniatures.&nbsp;

The picture shows the month of January in which only gifts and thanks are given. It is a dinner attended by the duke and his vassals. At the beginning of the year, the vassals gifted their senior thanking him for his protection and their safety.

The picture shows a hunt. We can see the dogs chasing deer and one dog was hit by a deer. We see the archer shooting at the fawn.

Harvesting grapes. The picture shows two men picking grapes. On the side, there are cars in which there is a barrel in which the grapes were transported. Above the people is a donkey with which people transported grapes.

The picture shows the month of June. It shows the harvesting and grinding of wheat and how a man binds sacks of flour that has been ground in a mill. It is a mill on the Bistrica stream in Ivanec 💦💦💦
