From ancient times, this carol was sung door to door as a New Year's greeting with which we wish the hosts a successful New Year.
KOLENDA
Pripjev:
Kolendo, kolendo , veselo
novo je ljeto dospjelo,
Gospara Vašega pri dvore,
pivajmo braćo do zore.

NA MLADO LITO
The song ends with the lyrics:
“Mi vam čestitamo
Prvi dan godišća,
Zdravo i veselo
Doškali do lita.”
We congratulate you
The first day of the year,
Healthy and cheerful
Welcome the new summer (year).

Primary school Blato, Croatia
In Blato on Korčula in Croatia, the folk custom of "rejoicing" has been preserved - folk singing for Christmas. Groups of singers tour the houses and sing congratulations on the upcoming holiday. In the past, singers were rewarded with oranges and dried fruit.
The younger generations continue this old custom. A song echoes through the streets, creating a special holiday atmosphere.
On the eve of the New Year, the song "Na mlado lito" was sung. The song talks about how Jesus should be circumcised on New Year's Day, and glorifies Jesus and the Virgin Mary. This custom and songs are especially valuable because they originate from Blato and are only sung in Blato.

TOAST, Primary school Stjepana Radića Metković
TOAST
The toast is said in health and blessing to the hosts in New Year's caroling, but also otherwise for the blessing of everything we do, for good wishes. It has remained in the tradition of the people and is performed at folklore events.
