Yes. I do think that I would be willing to cross the bar if there was something pressing on the other side that I had to do. I think that in recent years humans knowledge of dangers and solutions to those dangers that I would be able to cross it without problem. Although it would cost money I don’t have.

Hatfield Marine Science Center Animal Adaptations

I think that when animals migrate or are forced to live in a new place will learn tricks about surviving or thriving and share theme with their colony. I think that this is a great part of natural life and i also think that it has had a big impact on how humans became, well, humans.

Tillamook Cheese Factory and Izzy’s Buffet

the cheese factory was chosen to be placed on this land because there was a lot of farmland to be used that nobody had been using. this was also because there were very good living conditions for cows. now this is very well known cheese and even the queen ate it!

I thought that Northwest Trek is very important to the wildlife that lives there because it is a reserve where they can live and get free food as a bonus. It inspires work by telling people “there are still beautiful places that animals can live and thrive. I think that the concept that Northwest Trek is going for is great because it’s like a zoo but the animals get to live in an environment that is almost identical to where they came from.

The Astoria Column is 125 feet tall and is covered on the outside by a mural that depicts historical events.

Columbia River Maritime Museum First Nations Section

When the first colonists came on their exploration most of the first nations welcomed them and in return they gave the first nations people european wears and items. I believe that this changed their lifestyle greatly by removing many of their traditional acts and ceremonies. As well later discriminating them for being different. Although that has long passed i think what happened with them is now an important part of their everyday life. Even though they took the first nations as slaves and raped the women and maybe even children. This problem was serious but it also made the first nations who they are today. I still believe that amends should be made but at least we’re taking a step in the right direction.

Hatfield Marine Science Center Assemble a Whale

I think that the most important thing that the class did was have a few people take charge of organizing the vertebrae or ribs etc.. A big thing that worked well was when the bones were taken out of the bin helped a lot. Something that didn’t really work was that we didn’t know what a whale anatomy looked like in the beginning. Seeing the assembled whale skeleton definitely helped a lot.

Personally i think that many things went wrong but also some things went well too. One of the things that went well was that we stuck together the whole time and didn’t stray away or get too far away from each other. A thing that went not too well was our understanding of the  paragraphs/hints we were given. I that we need to think a little more about the poems/paragraphs and where we should be going according to those.

I’m looking forward to going to cannon beach because in the picture it looks really nice and fun.

I’m looking forward to seeing a sea otter because they are really cute. I haven’t seen a sea otter in a while but I’m hoping we’ll see one on our trip. I’m also looking forward to seeing them crack open a sea urchin because I’ve never seen an otter eat before.

Depoe Bay is known as the smallest navigatable harbor. On March 11, 2011, the port was damaged by a tsunami caused by an earthquake off the coast of Japan.

They call the battery pratt a disappearing rifle because it would only be visible from the ocean for only one second. It “disappeared” because the cannon would come over the wall, shoot and then the recoil from the shot would put the cannon back down below the wall. The shells for this rifle weighed 100 pounds. There was also a cannon that got decommissioned early because the room they had was too small for the loading and cleaning process.

I think that thing like these are important to small towns because they are a way to have fun, make job openings and connect with people around you.

Cannon Beach is most well known for haystack Rock. It is sometimes called the  third largest intertidal rock in the world.

Hatfield Marine Science Center R.O.V. Challenge

Some challenges with the R.O.V. were that you needed a good cage design to help the motors along with making it not too heavy. We solved this problem by making minimalistic cage with the parts we were given. another challenge we had was making our R.O.V. neutrally buoyant. Our group overcame this challenge easily by trial and error as did most of the groups (we cheated a little because our up/down motor didn’t work.)

I believe that there is tsunami machine in the visitor center to warn the people that tsunamis are huge and will knock down even strong buildings. it shows this by demonstrating the destruction even a slow moving wave can cause.

One reason might be that if everyone took a rock then there would be no rocks. Another reason might be that the animals there need the rocks to live. Also it might have been the rocks are specially volcanic and cannot be re-made/replaced.

Hatfield Marine Science Center Speedy Science

For our experiment we thought that the purple crabs would be much faster than the green ones. We were wrong and I thought that that was just decided by what crabs we had.we also thought that maybe smaller crabs would be faster because they’re lighter than the bigger ones. We found out that the extra leg length was an advantage that overpowered the weight. This was surprising because in the water the big crabs moved the least of any as well as much slower.
