Dear Antelope Family,

I am Darinka Cooper. I have two beautiful boys, My oldest is almost 3 years and my youngest is 18 months old. We own 8 fish, 5 chickens, and 1 rabbit. As a family, we like to go on walks and swim. I enjoy dancing, reading children's books, and eating vegetarian food. This is my 6th year teaching as a special education teacher in the Jordan School District. It has been a pleasure to work with the wonderful and creative students and staff of Jordan School District. I have worked at Herriman, Fox Hollow, and now Antelope Canyon Elementary. I am so excited to be part of the Antelope Canyon community. I know that we will all have a wonderful time working and learning together. There are many reasons why I became a special education teacher but the main reason is that I want all students that I meet and serve to reach their potential and goals in life. With teamwork, love, and care, structure, consistency, resources, and the right evidence-based strategies we can make my goal and your children's IEP goals come true.

2021-2022 Disclosure Statement

Dear Parents:

I am looking forward to helping your students in our Reading, Writing, Math Lab (Resource) this year at Antelope Canyon Elementary. As I work with your children, I will be using the Utah Common Core along with the classroom teacher as much as possible. Your students will be learning the same concepts as the other students in their grade while working in small groups and focusing in achieving the skills needed to be successful (IEP goals) in the general education setting.

I. Curriculum
A. Reading: We will be reading from regular classroom texts, at the student’s reading level, along with balanced literacy materials. We will use precision teaching to help increase rate and fluency.

B. Written Expression: We will write or do proofreading with emphasis on basic sentence structure, vocabulary, editing and essay forms.

C. Math: We will follow the grade level core curriculum, supplemented with learning activities and drill and practice using direct instruction.

II. Classroom Structure
             Each student will have a daily schedule Monday through Thursday. Points will be given for working hard and for following classroom rules. Earned points can be used to spin in order to obtain a prize. Awards will be given to students when they reach their IEP and class goals.
Classroom Rules
                                                                     1. Do what the teacher says.
                                                                     2. Raise your hand to talk.
                                                                     3. Stay in your seat.
                                                                     4. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
                                                                     5. Walk quietly to and from Lab on time.
III.  Homework
            It is very important that the students spend time reading at their level or being read to outside of school. Students should also study their spelling and sight words at home. Students should use TouchPoints when solving math problems.
