Lomeshaye’s Presentation Expectations At Lomeshaye, we always try&nbsp; our best to keep our handwriting neat and our books tidy. We always strive to uphold the following expectations:

·&nbsp;Learners taking pride in them selves and everything they do by giving 100% effort at all times.

·&nbsp;Presentation of learning is always the best it can be.

1.&nbsp;Our letters are formed correctly. 2.&nbsp;We use neat, joined handwriting. 3.&nbsp;Our ascenders and descenders are appropriate sizes. 4.&nbsp;We always use a ruler when drawing lines. 5.&nbsp;We put a neat, straight line through any mistakes. 6.&nbsp;There are no unnecessary scribbles or doodles in our books. 7.&nbsp;We are proud of every piece of learning. We ask ourselves - Is it my best? 8.&nbsp;The date and learning objective are spelt correctly and written on the second line down. 9.&nbsp;Any words that are available to us are spelt correctly. 10.&nbsp;We don’t waste paper by missing pages in our books - check! 11.&nbsp;All of our sheets are stuck in straight and neat with no overhanging or up-turned&nbsp; corners.

REVISE OUR VALUES

Activity: Choose one of our school values and create a poster which could be displayed in school to remind others of this value and how it can be shown.&nbsp; Remember to refer back to the pages in this booklet to support you and help to pick out the key vocabulary you must include within your poster.

What is it ? Tolerance, which is another one of our British Values, is very important at our school. Everyone is different and unique and this is what makes the world an exciting place. By understanding and appreciating ways in which we are similar to and different from each other, we can learn from each other and show kindness and respect to everyone around us. Tolerance&nbsp;is when you accept others who may be different in their race, culture, habits, and even beliefs. We understand that everyone has protected characteristics and these should not be discriminated against.

What does this look like in our school? ·&nbsp;People having patience and respect for others ·&nbsp;Celebrating differences ·&nbsp;Compromising ·&nbsp;Everyone being treated equally

The Equality Act helps to us to understand and be aware of the characteristics which are protected by law against discrimination. Our Core Values &nbsp;

At Lomeshaye, we have strong core values that are evident as soon as you enter our school building. When people visit our school, we want them to leave us with the feeling that at Lomeshaye Junior School our values are lived and shared by all.&nbsp; To live by our values for an hour or day is achievable for most, but the real achievement is to do this all of the time. It takes hard work, concentration and lots of practise. It takes someone who is amazing, dedicated and someone who never gives up. At Lomeshaye, we are wonderful, we are resilient and we always give our best! We believe that living, learning and playing through our core values is the key. &nbsp;

What is it ? At Lomeshaye, we take pride in everything we do and we our proud to attend our amazing school. We take pride in the presentation of ourselves, our learning and our school. What does this look like in our school?

To support us in making the right choices we can use the SUMO principle of E+R=O

This teaches us that although we can not always control the event or situation we find ourselves in, we can control our response and actions and we know this will impact on the outcome and what happens in the future. When we Stop, Understand what is happening and think about our actions, we are more likely to make the right behaviour choices. This allows us to MOve&nbsp; happily and safely on in our lives.

COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILTY

Welcome to Lomeshaye Junior School’s core value booklet. In this booklet, you will learn what&nbsp; our core values are, gain an understanding of their importance and discover how we live and learn ‘The Lomeshaye Way’. Before we explore our core values, it is important for us to understand what core values are.&nbsp; Values are a set of important beliefs or expectations for us to live by in our school. Like the core of an apple which prevents the apple from falling apart, our values run through the core of our school. Without them, our learners, staff and wider community would not experience the safe, happy and successful school in which we feel incredibly privileged to be part of.

Our core values also enable us to live through and achieve our school vision which was created&nbsp;collaboratively by everyone who is part of our school.&nbsp; Our Vision Lomeshaye is a school where our vision is to educate all learners to the highest levels of academic achievement, to enable them to flourish and expand their&nbsp;potential, and to prepare them to become engaged, responsible, ethical, creative and compassionate members of society. To achieve this, learners will access a deep and enriched curriculum which will equip them with purposeful knowledge, skills and vocabulary delivered by a passionate and committed school community.

When the bell rings! When our break is over or it is time for lunch, the bell will be rung twice.

Whether we are playing football, exploring the adventure play area or just playing with friends, we always follow our game and play expectations to keep us happy and safe.

What is it ? Respect, which is also one of the British Values, is extremely important at Lomeshaye.&nbsp;Respect is acting in a way that shows you care about the feelings and well-being of others. Respecting yourself shows that you care about your learning and that you want to be the best by believing in your own ability.

Everyone treats others as they wish to be treated and are kind to each other.

We respect our equipment, look after each other, listen and look when somebody is speaking.

What does this look like in our school? &nbsp;We can always be seen: &nbsp; ·&nbsp; using our manners &nbsp; ·&nbsp;listening carefully to everyone

We listen to and act on advice from others.

We follow instructions and appreciate our school and our learning.

What is it ? At Lomeshaye, we understand that for our values to be embedded across school, we must all work together as a collective. We ensure everyone plays a part by encouraging others to live by our school core values - Rule of Law. Collective responsibility is when everyone works as a team to ensure&nbsp; behaviour and learning happens to the highest standard. It is the responsibility of everyone to ensure that all learners’ rights to a good quality education and the right to rest and play is upheld.

What does this look like in our school? ·&nbsp;We allow learning to take place at all times (movers not blockers). We also support each other in making the right behaviour choices and to do the right thing—we are not bystanders.

At Lomeshaye, teachers will use the acronym SLANT to support learners to concentrate, focus and learn. Sitting up smartly, listening well, looking at the teacher and not being distracted by things in our hands helps us to pay full attention to the teacher. Paying attention allows us to learn new knowledge and skill. This will enable us to be successful in our learning.

At our school, we all move around the building smart, safe and sensible (The 3S’s). When we line up and move around the school, we are smart.

Remember, if you look smart, you feel smart, if you feel smart, you work smart. We also are safe when moving through school. We do not want our school building to be a dangerous and a scary place.

Learners who are spotted living ‘The Lomeshaye Way’ will be given a special ‘spotted’ sticker and certificates will be awarded in assemblies to celebrate         learners who have demonstrated                      our school/class focus value.

If you feel safe, you feel&nbsp;&nbsp; confident, if you feel confident, you learn lots! Finally we always demonstrate sensible walking. This keeps us and the school safe and lets everyone know that we are ready to learn.
