THIS BOOK WAS A PROJECT CARRIED OUT ENTIRELY DURING LOCKDOWN DUE TO COVID-19. IT'S AN EXAMPLE OF HOW STUDENTS CAN EASILY COLLABORATE FROM HOME ON THE SAME PROJECT. I WANTED MY STUDENTS TO LEARN ABOUT BRITISH CULTURE IN AN ACTIVE AND MORE ENGAGING WAY. I ASSIGNED EACH STUDENT A PAGE OF THE BOOK WHICH INCLUDED DIRECTIONS AND USEFUL LINKS TO SEARCH INFORMATION. THEY WROTE THEIR DRAFTS AND I PROVIDED FEEDBACK. STUDENTS SEARCHED FOR IMAGES AND IN SOME CASES VIDEOS THAT WOULD BEST SUPPORT THEIR TEXTS.THEY PRACTICED READING WITH THE READ ALOUD FEATURE THAT HELPED THEM IMPROVE THE PRONOUNCIATION OF UNFAMILIAR WORDS.
THE NEXT STEP WILL BE TO ADD THEIR VOICES WITH THE RECORD BUTTON TO IMPROVE THEIR SPEAKING SKILLS.

THE UNION JACK
The Union Flag, or Union Jack, is the national flag of the United Kingdom. It is so called because it combines the crosses of the three countries united under one Sovereign - the kingdoms of England and Wales, of Scotland and of Ireland. The current design of the Union Jack dates from the Act of Union 1801 which united the Kingdom of Great Britain and the Kingdom of Ireland to create the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
