Our independent variables are the amount of water and the amount of salt, sugar, iron filings and sand we are going to put in the water. Our dependant variable is our results.

HYPOTHESIS

What is your Hypothesis/Prediction of the outcome?

My prediction/hypothesis is that the sugar and the salt will dissolve completely.

RESULTS

Make sure there is the same amount of water in each cup. Make use there is the same amount of solutes every time.

PROCEDURE

Please explain how you are going to carry out this experiment, be as detailed as possible and list out all the different steps.

First, we are going to put 100ml of water in each cup. There are 4 cups because we have 4 solutes.

Next, we are going to put it in one by one and each time we have to mix continuously for 20 seconds.

Then, we are going to observe which one is soluble and which one is insoluble.

RESULTS

Take a video of a part of your experiment and explain using scientific vocabulary (Soluble, insoluble, solution, variable, dissolve, etc).

Sugar

The sugar dissolved completely.

Iron filings

The iron filings changed the colour of the water but did not dissolve.

Sand

The sand also changed the colour of the water but did not disolve

Salt

The salt completely dissolved

CONCLUSION

What can you conclude from this experiment?

My prediction was correct. The salt and the sugar will dissolve completely.
