RESULTS

Make sure there is the same amount of water in each cup. Make use there is the same amount of solutes every time.

PROCEDURE

Please explain how you are going to carry out this experiment, be as detailed as possible and list out all the different steps.

First, we are going to put 100ml of water in each cup. There are 4 cups because we have 4 solutes.

Next, we are going to put it in one by one and each time we have to mix continuously for 20 seconds.

Then, we are going to observe which one is soluble and which one is insoluble.

RESULTS

Sugar

The sugar dissolved completely.

Iron filings

The iron filings changed the colour of the water but did not dissolve.

Sand

The sand also changed the colour of the water but did not disolve

Salt

The salt completely dissolved

What can you conclude from this experiment?

My prediction was correct. The salt and the sugar will dissolve completely.

What can you conclude from this experiment?

From this experiment, I conclude the salt and sugar are soluble and the iron filings and the sand and insoluble. Now that I know this, I know why sand on the beach never runs out even if the water cover it. When the wave comes, the sand will wash back to shore.
