The first day of winter is on December 21st. In the wintertime, I wear my warmest coat, gloves, and scarf. I like playing in the snow, but it doesn’t snow every year in Charlotte, North Carolina.

During winter, animals look for warm places to live and hibernate. Some live under rocks, leaves, and holes in trees. Mice and squirrels make tunnels underground and share homes. Some birds migrate south in search of warmer weather, and the monarch butterfly migrates as far south as Mexico. Unos pájaros emigran hacia el sur en busca de clima más caliente, y la mariposa monarca emigra tan lejos sur hasta México.
