There it was. His chance. His only chance to see what it was like out there. For a mere moment he second-guessed himself as one often does when making drastic decisions; only to be interrupted by this thought "What kind of dog has never been outside before? A truly ridiculous thought, all dogs have been outside at one point or another." So he said to himself. "I must go." Seeing his window of opportunity slowly closing Bailey burst through the open door and leaped down the stairs and into the grass. His senses were overwhelmed by sights and smells he had never had before. He began to run. He needed to see it all! However, it was only a matter of time before the soft grass beneath his paws became a hard rough surface; one that he had never felt before. Only then did Bailey realize that he indeed had been running all this time. He slid into a sudden stop and began to look around frantically searching for something he recognized, but there was nothing. Bailey was lost. As he wandered the days became weeks and the weeks became months.  Bailey had lost all hope of ever finding his home. As he sat down beneath a tree he heard a familiar voice calling his name. It was Herb! Within that instant, Bailey knew he was safe.<br />
